    Pros

Interesting engineering job in the field of green and geothermal energy. Creating Geothermal power plants all around the world.

    Cons

Not a very rewarded job money wise. A lot of pushes and elbows to get a head. Opportunities to get a head are almost none

    Advice to Management

Reward more you engineers at hard times... Many are looking for new places.

I worked at Ormat full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting process that was always changing. The American Engineering Manager was fantastic and I learned at ton at Ormat. The plant managers that had an engineering backgrounds were are great.

    Cons

A select few plant managers are simply evil. I'm pretty sure at least 2 are sociopaths. The office environment is also very unstable.

I worked at Ormat full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefit rates - awful administrators. Awesome Senior Management.

    Cons

Middle management has been there for years, they are complacent, resist any change, etc. Ideas, complaints, etc. are treated as though they were never heard. The company is growing, but the managers seriously lack any professional management skills.

    Advice to Management

Set goals / expectations for middle management to learn to develop their staff in the appropriate manner.

    Pros

Very broad levels of organization-exploration, buisiness development.

    Cons

Highly tribal, management is siper political, not in dem vs repub, in that you must fit in, which is difficult due to it being an Israeli company.

    Advice to Management

    None

    I worked at Ormat full-time

    Pros

    The work was rewarding.
Each day on the job site was slightly different which made the days go by quickly.
Jobs were fast paced and required quick research and responses to keep the job moving in efficient manner.

    Cons

Standard work weeks entailed 6 days a week and at least 60 hours per week.
All projects were in remote locations and many took 60 minutes to reach from the nearest city.
Balance between work and personal time was not easy to maintain.

    Advice to Management

Provide more on site man power to the Construction Team so that the individual stress can be reduced. Provide better channel between the engineering team overseas and the onsite management.

    Pros

Great industry, but low on the salary scale.

    Cons

You need to be "in the group" to succeed here. Promotions given to people not qualified.

I worked at Ormat full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The organizational structure is flat and one has exposure to all levels of executive management. The work environment is multi-cultural which makes for an interesting employee mix. The jobs are interesting and demanding

    Cons

From an industry perspective, the salary levels are low. There is not much opportunity for advancement as most executive management is located overseas. The work/life ratio is definitely skewed toward work. There is not much praise for a job well done

    Advice to Management

Since upper management has recently changed, there is nothing I can had. The prior CEO was excellent to work with.

Plant managers run the company. Corporate initiatives are not fully supported by upper management.

    I worked at Ormat full-time

    Pros

Generally good teamwork in corporate group .

    Cons

Decisions are driven by what is convenient or in the interest of the local plant/plant manager, rather than driven by executive/corporate management for the benefit of entire company.
