Pros

They have a respectable client list

Cons

Owners and Executives are absolutely unaware of the importance of retention and do nothing to motivate their employees to stay. For a company that exists to service HR communications, they lack the implementation of the plans and strategies that they see executed and promoted on a daily basis by their clients. It is amazing that a company could build a business based on the need for these principles, yet fail so miserably at recognizing their importance in their own structure. PartnerComm is led by a husband and wife team that make decisions primarily based on what best supports their egos and those of their children. Employees past and present see this daily and would likely be motivated to stay if it wasn't so apparent.

Favoritism Reeks

Pros

It is a good place to start your career right out of school. You get experience working on some big named clients, but if you are experienced your talents are wasted.

Cons

Two of the owners are married, which means voicing your opinions about management is not going to happen. There is favoritism that is very obvious and some rules do not apply to certain people. At least 3 months of your life is dedicated to this company, you can expect to work 70+ hours. The bonus at the end of the year does not cover for all the extra hours worked. They hire young, to keep salary lows. Also be prepared to be micromanaged. Management will sit over your shoulder as you work. There is no career growth.

PartnerComm, Inc. Response
10y
We’re beginning to pay attention to Glassdoor, thus this late comment. Your feedback is always valued — and we’re not perfect. And we also believe it's important to respond, so you know we've listened and take your comments seriously. But rather than a lengthy discourse we thought it best to as address your concerns as succinctly as possible: 1. We do have a busy season, kind of like accountants, which means we all work extra hard then. It's the nature of the business and we don’t want to overstaff and then be faced with layoffs. In return, we try to reward above and beyond what other companies do by our generous bonus program and our annual trip to Hawaii. 2. We do hire a lot of young people — not to keep salaries low — but honestly because they are much more teachable. You know at PartnerComm our style is very different from the norm. 3. We also see growth a bit differently. It's not about a formal path with structure and time-worked but a fluid, grow by leaps and bounds, jump ahead no matter your age. Why? Because you've followed the ladder? No because you're good at what you do. And that's what gives everyone the chance to work with really big clients and smart colleagues, and grow faster than at many traditional companies. 4. Favoritism. It's never a good thing and we appreciate the heads up. All we can say is, it's not our intention and our goal is to always make opportunity available to everyone who passionately wants it and performs at the top of expectations. We are all about doing our best. You know it's a team effort and that’s why you’re here. Please come talk to us — our door is always open and knock and come in if it's closed.

Pros

You get a paycheck, I guess?

Cons

I left this place some time ago, and honestly, sometimes I'm still haunted by the trauma of working here. When I entered my new workplace, I discovered this company had quite the reputation elsewhere. When I shared some stories with others, it became like therapy, and people were horrified by my experiences. Heck, when I left, the woman who conducted my exit interview was stunned silent, and then just said, "wow." I can't go into too many details, but I will just say those who run this company are extremely selfish, self-centered, and only care about the bottom line. I was either part of or overheard conversations where they essentially admitted to not caring to give their employees the very types of things we spent all our time communicating about. I would also strongly encourage you to pursue employment elsewhere if you're a woman, minority, not Christian, or in the LGBTQ+ community. Many reviews are about the people here, and there are certainly good ones to be found. But if you find yourself on teams with some of the bad ones, there isn't going to be anyone to support you. It's also a pretty big red flag that there's no HR department. And early on, I discovered they're doing things downright unethical with the way they calculate your pay for certain things (like first and last paycheck) in such a way designed to pay you less. They bank on no one paying attention or having much ability to do anything about it. Again, see above about greed. Any appearance of them being this great "family-oriented" caring company is smoke and mirrors. In the time I worked here, people were fleeing by the dozens but given the size of this industry, I think most were too afraid to leave a review. (Heck, in the company retreat, they slammed a former employee in a way that they were identifiable as well as a former employer by name.) During my time, the owners actually gave a speech in one of our community calls about how it was "nothing we're doing wrong." They refused to accept any responsibility, ever. Also they hire a ton of people fresh out of college, and often go to places to recruit them, because again, they just want cheap labor. They won't do anything to train them or help them start off their career and then will cycle through a new batch the next year.
