I worked at Penta Engineering full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good place to work if you're interested in learning to use a slide rule.

    Cons

Too much emphasis on being billable.

    Advice to Management

Invest in technology including modern computer systems. Abacus is outdated.

    Pros

Very successful business and a great company to work for. ESOP creates an atmosphere where everyone has interest in the success of the business. Management is very supportive of employees and will always put family first.

    Cons

There are no justifiable cons to working here.

I have been working at Penta Engineering full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Variety of work
    Great mentors
    Great work culture
Management that connects with employees and even participate in work
    Good location
Employee-owned drives good work ethic among employees
Voluntary 401k match - they have made the match every year even though it's not required
Flexible managers and scheduling - they really work with the employees to be sure that the work/life balance is good.

    Cons

Variable work load seems to make employees uneasy with job security
Employee-ownership sounds great but can be elusive due to restrictions on timing requirements
    Vacation/holidays are standard at best

    Advice to Management

Keep employees posted on real-time work potential, don't just promise "it will pick up"
