"Environment of stress for a carpenter"

    Pros

Get to build some big projects, pay is adequate.

    Cons

Production requirements unreasonable most times, Stressful environment, management doesn't care, very limited opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Quit playing mind games with your employees and pushing them past the breaking point. It's not a carpenter's fault that a plumber put his pipe down the center of a wall. It's also not a carpenter's fault when estimators miss details. It's not a drywallers fault that the framing is not plumb, not on center, or not framed properly. Most carpenters who work for you just stop caring after a certain point. Production numbers are a joke on a lot of jobs, and in the real world, jobsites are dirty, disorganized, and riddled with errors that MUST be corrected in order to construct a building properly. This company is VERY corporate and does not care about you at all. You are a number, who has to reach a certain quota. You will be pushed to meet this quota regardless of circumstances. Most people will do anything to meet this quota, including building things in a substandard way that make it harder for the next guy to get his numbers. Things are often framed so quickly/wrong that they require extensive repairing before you can hang wallboard or panelling on them, making it impossible for the numbers to be accurate.

I have been working at Performance Contracting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decently equipped, competitive pay, benefits and pay always on time.

    Cons

Lots of chiefs, few Indians. Promises up front, but have yet to come through...

    Advice to Management

Shoot straight, be transparent. A person that feels needed and important is much more likely to go the extra mile, than if they aren't in the good ole boys club, and everything seems a secret...
