How to ruin a good thing

Pros

Awesome coworkers. Flexible schedule, daily catered lunches. Great location. After hours events. A tech dream come true.

Cons

Micro management. Workplace fatique. Failure to document operating procedures. Performance evaluations based on feelings rather than merit. Using outdated methods of communication and planning. Failure to listen to development staff regarding important time-saving tools and practices. Over all, this is a growing company that doesn't know how to grow up.

Great perks, bad management.

Pros

Comes off as a "cool tech startup", complete with a sweet office, free downtown parking, free lunch, unlimited time off and pretty good benefits.

Cons

Jutera Labs is a total bro-culture with no respect for their employees. If HR actually existed, management would be in violation on a daily basis. There is no work-life balance so don't plan on actually being able to take a vacation or enjoy your evenings, work is always expected to take precedence over all else, always. The environment has become so hostile and uncomfortable because of management so even when there are team building activities no one actually wants to be there.

Pros

I would say the co-workers, but 10+ employees have left or been fired in the last 3 months. Paid parking downtown is nice

Cons

Very 'keep your head down and do what you're told' environment. I did not feel respected or valued by my managers and I really had nowhere to turn to address that. No separation between business and personal; everything is taken personally and treated as personal rejection of upper management. The team gets along incredibly well, but that isn't taken into consideration. Reactive and volatile management style. Develop proper internal processes, training, and workloads so that employees can have a life and stop running around like headless chickens. There are constant, passive aggressive reminders that the company is more important than your time, family, and priorities. It's demoralizing. If you miss a happy hour or weekend work day, you get a guilt-trip email about how more is expected of you.
