Pros

No pros to think of at the moment- other than you might get paid

Cons

Horrible place to work. Employees are disposable. No job security. No path forward towards the future. Living on borrowed time and the clock is running out.

Culture and leadership issues overshadow agency's reputation

Pros

The side of the business that they paid their way into before systematically burning to the ground had folks who were (key word here, “were”, as in “they were working here and escaped at the first opportunity”) knowledgeable in nonprofit and membership strategy, culture and execution.

Cons

Imagine working for an agency that is reasonably good at what they do and have name recognition and a solid reputation in the industry and among the clients that they serve. Then further imagine, one day, a team of men whose little boy dream was to be a real marketing agency descended on your agency and decided that, with the most limited of experience, that they were the experts and concerns raised by the actual experts were either deemed unwarranted or ignored entirely. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In addition, there is no accountability by leadership, who like to divert blame elsewhere (preferably to those who have left the company because - you guessed it - they aren’t there to counter or defend themselves). I was on the receiving end as an employee (“this was so-and-so’s fault - we tried to address it and they wouldn’t engage with us” - a lie) and as an ex-employee, when it turns out that leadership was apparently fully behind the salary increases and promotions that I had been asking for since the previous summer (because I had very clear and grave concerns about employee - and therefore, client - retention) but apparently the lack of raises turned out to be my fault, according to leadership after I left. Also a lie. Honestly, I could go on, but what good would it do? If you’re looking to build character and learn from negative experience or be gaslit every single day, this is the place for you. If not, take your talents somewhere they will be cultivated and appreciated.

Pros

There are a few good people left, but overall, most staff have departed.

Cons

This company has serious issues at the leadership level. Financial transparency is nonexistent, and decisions are made without accountability or clear strategy. Recent layoffs have left teams overworked, underpaid, and without direction. There’s little to no understanding of the political space the company operates in, which has led to costly mistakes, the loss of major clients, and shrinking revenue. Growth opportunities are virtually nonexistent. Pay raises and promotions rarely happen, benefits have been stripped instead of improved, and innovation has completely stalled. Leadership leans heavily on AI tools to fill gaps in knowledge rather than developing real expertise or supporting employees. The culture is outdated, hierarchical, and dismissive of new ideas. There’s a lack of creativity, diversity of thought, and genuine care for employees. This company could have been something great, but it has become a disappointing example of what happens when leadership stops listening, learning, and leading responsibly.
