      Poor benefits, callous C-suite

      Pros

      Many passionate, smart people Interesting work

      Cons

      Health benefits are abysmal. The PPO plan will cost you $7k per year before getting any benefits. The HSA has a max out of pocket of $7k and costs $1.2k per year. Life insurance is negligible The company recently laid off 30% of staff. The CEO told us before we were in a great position, and now he told us that this was a long time coming because of patterns in trucking. He was callous and said that this was to make sure we do right by our investors

      Pros

      There are a lot of talented and kind people at Platform Science. I got to work alongside some of them and learned a lot during my time there.

      Cons

      Unfortunately, my team was not managed by one of the aforementioned kind and talented people. I ultimately left because my manager wouldn’t let me take 2 weeks off to be with my girlfriend and her family on a special vacation. No matter how I tried to make it work, he wouldn’t compromise. He even went to HR to make sure he was protected in denying my request per some very vague language in the employee handbook.

      Non-engineers Beware!

      Pros

      Small company, great salary (read overpaid), okay benefits.

      Cons

      They want you to own your work yet tie your hands when it comes to getting anything done. Management is cheap, doesn't want to pay for basic needs to get a job done right and are control freaks. Non-existent career opportunities, such a small company there isn't anywhere to go.
