Pros

REDBOOKS is an ever-evolving technology company that works both with a start-up mindset but has been in existence for more than 100 years. Access to the management team is easy and encouraged. For those self-starters, this is a great place to work, as no micromanaging takes place. The sharing of ideas and the openness to new ideas makes REDBOOKS both a fun and productive environment.

Cons

Working in a shared space can be difficult, but it does encourage communication and togetherness.

Pros

A growing company that is open to new ideas, allowing people to expand their roles as much as they desire. I started as a relatively low level employee and was given opportunities to present my ideas for product improvement and take on new projects, and over the next 3 years I was given a real place in management team's discussions on product strategy, marketing, and more. I saw several others do the same, moving quickly from an entry level position to a more substantial role - based on their own motivation to think outside their basic job requirements. The company is a positive, low politics environment, people are friendly and professional, and work / life balance is respected. Turnover is generally low. Sales manager is a great guy, has been with the company for a long time. Upper management took over the company about 5 years ago and have greatly improved the product. They are always open to new ideas. Office is a few steps from Penn Station and every train. Good benefits. No drama.

Cons

The workplace is friendly and happy, but you wouldn't expect wild and crazy startup fun a la Google. A successful person will need to be self-motivated, rather than expecting 1-2-3 directions from a manager (although help, strategic guidance and constructive feedback is provided).

Pros

The company provides employees with plenty of opportunities to grow. Management is open to new ideas, and innovative thinking is encouraged. It's great to work with a team of smart, talented people who are collaborative and friendly. It's a small company so your contribution to the business is highly visible.

Cons

Not suitable for anybody with a fixed, big-corporate mindset.
