Cons
1) Did not receive a work truck or vehicle allowance even though it was promised. 2) Did not receive any quarterly bonuses as promised on my hire date. 3) They sent me to Colorado (headquarters) for 1 week of training and I was taught things that didn’t pertain to project management on multi million dollar projects. It was a complete waste of time and taught me what not to do. 4) They give you nightmare projects to FIX. Not a job sold, estimated, or logistically thought out. It’s a complete mess with no communication. RE in house guys breaking windows and lying about it and management does a slap on the wrist. My former boss Kevin has his son in law still working on a residential chimney job for almost 3 years now after Ian. Employees dad is concrete subcontractor and did a chimney pipe incorrectly (didn’t even know what class A pipe meant) and I was given that job in addition to several other headaches from employees that don’t know what they are doing. 6) I could go on and on but to sum it up and make it brief every single job this company does is a nightmare. Subs getting fired and then facing the consequences of poor workmanship all the way to the end of substantial completion. In house guys lying. As a PM I did estimating, project management, acted as a superintendent, pulled permits etc. You will be constantly be over worked, underpaid, and ultimately unappreciated and used for making this and the parent company (Johns Lyng) millions of dollars. 7) Another frustrating example of poor leadership and communication is I took a job over for a PM that put his 2 weeks in. PM never told me he was quitting, my boss never did, and no one else mentioned it. Upon his resignation 3 months pass and I’m getting yelled at for outstanding invoices that haven’t been entered into the system or paid for because they are on his email. It’s sink or swim with this company and they love tying a rock around you.
