    Pros

The benefits package was good. There were no other real pros. Most other companies will provide better salaries, benefits, etc.

    Cons

Management did not seek to train and grow those underneath them. There was zero flexibility with my schedule as a salaried employees. The assistant controller micro managed to the detriment of the entire finance team. There was a lot of turnover as a result. Red Gold is financially cheap on all office supplies, hardware, software, etc.

    Advice to Management

I would advise management to treat their employees with respect and dignity. I would also consider increasing salaries (pay reflects the economically poor town in which it operates).

I worked at Red Gold full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    pay and benefits are great

    Cons

last minute overtime (mandatory) and overworking during late summer and all of fall (7 days a week)

    Advice to Management

rotate your overtime, inform your employees more than 24 hours in advance of mandatory saturdays. Lots of racist talk and homophobia everywhere.

I worked at Red Gold full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good health insurance, small amount of over time most of the year until fresh pack. It runs several weeks late summer early fall.

    Cons

recruiter over-promises. I was told there wasn't a top out pay for my position during the recruitment phase. Was told I had reached top out pay after just two years. With it being a smaller company there just isn't enough positions available for everyone who wants to advance.

    Advice to Management

Don't over-promise to try to hire someone you want. Be considerate to the future of the interviewee. Be honest about the lack of opportunity for growth. There are people out there who are content to not to move up. Hire those people. Don't be selfish and hire someone you know you don't have the ability to keep long term. Turn over isn't good for your company or us employees. This company is probably more suited for someone on the back end of their career wanting to just coast until retirement. And that's fine. They can bring a lot of wisdom and experience to the position and would be a much better fit.

I worked at Red Gold full-time

    Pros

Excellent quality products. Provides job security. Compensation package is above average for the area.

    Cons

Upper Management doesn't respect or recognize the dedication of middle management. The culture is very negative and is based on expectation without recognition. Condescending, unprofessional approach to addressing errors and no accolades for good work. Cost savings are highly valued which is understandable. However upper management is so controlling that well trained middle managers get little opportunity to utilize any of that training or experience.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge job well done and dedication. Trust your managers to make decisions in the best interest of the company.

    Pros

The employees and managers are very passionate about their job and everyone takes safety and quality very seriously. The family that owns the company actually works within the business and makes it a point to know everyone that works for them.

    Cons

Technology wise the company is behind the times. A lot of things are recorded manually. Excel is used as a database in various departments.

    Advice to Management

Think more about quality life balance as it relates to the Fresh Pack time period.
