BAD COMPANY - Don't walk, RUN away from this company

Pros

There are no pros. I would give this company a negative rating if I could.

Cons

This company has a Burger King/Convenience Store level management mentality. Jobs have a history of being a bait-and-switch. The pay and benefits are bad and there is a long history of misleading customers. This company culture is in a constant state of crisis management. Management treats people like factory machines and builds a huge amount of ill will within the staff. On the paper/mechanical side the machines and software are one their deathbeds gasping their last gasps of breathe on a daily basis. It is only through a series of ill-conceived Band-Aids that the system does not fully and permanently collapse. The software side is abysmal and constantly in need of attention. This company is responsible for highly sensitive data and they are completely irresponsible in how they manage it. The systems are insecure and they are constantly misleading clients into believing they have capabilities they do not have. This is a toxic place that treats people horribly. The result is a nasty, toxic work environment that creates unsafe web products. Every current employee on the technical side have one foot out the door. This place is a temporary stepping stone at best. Again, do not walk, RUN away from this company.

Pros

They somehow managed to employ a good number of intelligent and entertaining people who were fun to socialize with, but were all far too qualified to work there. They did work with me on scheduling around school, but would throttle my time as hard as they could otherwise.

Cons

Archaic hardware and software technologies. Overly rushed and cowboy-coded solutions to any and all vaporware requests. Sales and management would consistently fabricate any story they could to keep the customers happy and from learning how decrepit and not standards-compliant everything really was. So much drama. Too much favoritism, the sales team were treated like royalty.

Pros

- Very casual atmosphere - Easy to get hired - Early hours (great for students) - Non-management employees can be really good to work with As a production floor employee, this was a good entry level office job. It gave me enough office experience to get a much better position, but I regret sticking around for as long as I did.

Cons

- Horribly managed - Non-existent company culture - Production wages aren't competitive and are subject to freeze - Backstabbing, toxic environment encouraged I didn't receive a wage increase for almost three years despite exemplary reviews. The leadership at RLI is obviously only concerned with profit and not with employee morale or company culture. This is bad for any company, but is really dreadful to see in such a small company, especially with one whose wages are barely competitive with fast food. Nepotism, favoritism and broken promises reign supreme. There's almost no chance for advancement unless you're related to Craig Dawson or are somebody's favorite. Your skills will not be valued, no matter what you're told. Employees, especially on the production floor, are treated like nothing more than cogs in a badly run machine. RLI hemorrhages skilled employees at an astounding rate, especially in IT and software development. In my time there, no practices were followed to any kind of standard, much less industry-specific. There was absolutely no training program and as of the time I left the company, the only non-IT documentation was what we production employees took it upon ourselves to write. Craig Dawson was the worst person I've ever had the displeasure of working under, from his shady insistence of dragging his politics into the workplace (literally: up to and including company emails heavy handedly encouraging employees on how to vote and bringing in politicians on the election trail) to how utterly out of touch he is to anyone outside of his economic class.
