  1. "Great work environment and great people"

I worked at SAP Center part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The best part about working at SAP Center was working with a great group of people. There are some employees who have been there since the building opened. Everyone there from the managers who hired me, the supervisors, and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and they train you well. They take great pride in providing one the best guest services in northern California.

    Cons

Not a lot of cons. I have some nit picking of the stadium itself, but nothing really about management.

I have been working at SAP Center part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fun and fast paced environment with great co-workers and events.

    Cons

Some long nights and upper-management can seem to not care at times.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees, ask for more feedback and truly listen to all employees.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at SAP Center part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible scheduling (doesn't demand you work every shift, just 70% of games), fun work environment, fans are really enjoyable to be around, commission tiers for good sales numbers, free Barracuda tickets and 30% off at the Sharks merchandise store.

    Cons

Very little room for individuality or independent thinking. Ideas for improvement of operation are rejected without consideration. Can't wear anything fun for holidays or specific charities. Parking garage for employees is really far away, no shuttle. Supervisor was patronizing, never made time for the crew or 1-on-1 talks, never gave performance evaluations, didn't follow through on promises, issued promotions without conducting interviews or clear process/objective criteria for said promotions.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work with making the Sharks a meaningful community within San Jose that everyone loves visiting time after time! But get a new supervisor for the 50/50 Raffle before all the sellers decide to leave.

I worked at SAP Center part-time

    Pros

Flexible with schedules as I only worked when their were events. Great place to learn customer service skills.

    Cons

Turn over rate was high, the summer months are slow because this isn’t considered their busy season.

    Advice to Management

Investing in employees is always important, when I worked there turn over rate was high.

    I worked at SAP Center

    Pros

The people who work at the SAP Center are the nicest people I've ever encountered. There's always someone willing to help you out. The benefits are pretty good too, with discounts at certain places and free ice skating.

    Cons

The pay is kind of low for the hours you tend to work. It's worse when there aren't as many events in a month.

Current Employee - Guest Services in San Jose, CA
    Recommends

I have been working at SAP Center part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Learned the ins and outs of guest services, found out secrets to great customer service and secrets of the trade. If you're not a hockey fan, you will soon become one; it's infectious. Also get paid to see concerts, celebrities up close, and work VIP parties. See everyone from Adele, Garth Brooks, Marc Anthony, Bruno Mars, Barbara Streisand, Fluffy, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, etc. There is employee parking, and sometimes you can get discount tix, or better. There are conflict resolution teams who circulate, check on you being sure you don't need help with difficult guests. This is a union job, so there are steps in pay based on hours worked, and seniority. You get lots of exercise walking up/down stairs, and walking about on the concourse, club levels.

    Cons

You only get a 15 minute break which oftentimes isn't enough to eat dinner. Employee parking is about 3-4 city blocks away, which is difficult in the rain, or heat. Unfortunately, you do get drunk guests who can be obnoxious (recently had one try to hug/kiss me). A couple of the supervisors don't seem to know the rules, and can be arrogant.

    Advice to Management

Recommend 20 minute breaks, shuttles to parking lot, retraining supervisors.

I worked at SAP Center part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get to meet and see all types of celebrities from time to time

    Cons

People who work here can be a bit of a power dictatorship with guests and the pays not great since you only work when there are events. And sometimes they don't pick you to work.

    Advice to Management

Treat your ushers with more honor and appreciation
