I have been working at SalesGenius.com as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A dynamic company with innovative software products. The people were great. Everyone I worked with was professional and highly motivated. It was a great place to be if you enjoy a startup environment. It was an excellent place to build up my portfolio.

    Cons

The only con for me was the company was acquired, so my role as a contractor ended.

I have been working at SalesGenius.com full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A fantastic team, awesome investors (accel, deepfork, emergence, mdv, svb, & wti), and a great culture. The Enterprise SaaS space is getting really hot again, and Genius/LeadRocket are squarely in the hunt. Great benefits for a small company including solid medical/dental, unlimited PTO, a Tahoe office, philanthropy matching, and flexible work schedules.

    Cons

Genius grew really quickly and possibly a little prematurely which caused a bunch of unnecessary growing pains. The coffee machine requires a PHD to use.

    Pros

This is the most innovative company I've ever worked for. The team is great and their approach to the business is refreshing. An open, honest management style levels the organization and everyone in the company is heard. Not to mention that this company is positioned for huge success.

    Cons

Genius is a start-up with about 75 people. So it sits somewhere between a small and medium business and growing pains arise at times.

    Advice to Management

Continue business as usual. Anyone working at Genius.com is fortunate to be part of such a passionate and talented team.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Genius has a very young group of engineers so there is a lot of energy. Always encouraged to take opn new challenges.

    Cons

Can be very cliquish. CEO tends to be a little too high strung and emotional. Not sure what the future holds; are they getting bought or going public?

    Advice to Management

Be on a more even keel. Better communication with the ranks. It's important that there be level headed adult supervision.

    Pros

Great compensation package. Work hard Play hard culture.

    Cons

For a technology company the internal use of progressive time-saving tools is strangely absent.

    Advice to Management

An "Open Door Policy" does not make you easy to talk to or eager to listen. Genius was full of more open doors with closed minds inside than the largest Fortune 100.
Trust goes both ways and most people deserve to be heard. Genius.com and SFDC are not the only tools available to run an entire company. Investment in a good BI tool would go a long way and have a huge return to avoid wasting time on spreadsheets etc.

    Pros

Leadership (D Thompson) was terrific, culture was fun, energetic, passionate, and we all knew how to work hard and play hard. Great atmosphere.

    Cons

I think the only cons were some disconnect and disrespect amongst members of the leadership team from time to time, which - because the team was so close generally, did have an impact across the company.

    Advice to Management

Should just have anticipated and out-executed competitors better.
