Unprofessional Leadership

Pros

The job allows an individual to work from home.

Cons

Unprofessional Leadership. I believe the reason the training from the top is so lacking and unprofessional is because no one on staff has actually received any structured or formal training on how to run a business or conduct training. their trainings are more like MLM rah-rah meetings. The president was constantly changing rates, plans, structure, fees, and other critical elements whenever he got the whim to test out a new, unproven idea that sounds good at the moment. The president (Phil Ludwig) is an ego-driven, vain person who yells insults at agents. Instead of considering suggestions of proven corporate ideas that would make the company better and serve the customer better, he'd rather let talented agents leave the company simply because the ideas weren't his own. Many agents I connected with over the several years I worked there agreed that this could have been a good company, but Phil Ludwig himself is this company's biggest downfall. Other cons were merchant support. You could rarely get anyone to answer the phone, and when you did, you were made to feel they wanted to penalize you for calling and asking them to do their job. I personally have a proven sales track record as a top-selling agent. I know my abilities, so at one time I believed I could create a 6-figure income with SenText. But after several years, I made the decision to leave because leadership took away anything for me to believe in. When you can't believe in leadership and when leadership stops putting the customer first, it's time to go.

This company is one hot mess!

Pros

The ONLY pros are that as a sales rep, you can set your own hours and there is no defined territory.

Cons

This company is lead by a person who's inflated ego and greed has taken over all sensible business practices. He is brash, rude and talks down to people even on the public conference calls. As for the 5-star reviews... come on... there is no salary, no health benefits, no car allowance or mileage reimbursement, no expense reimbursement and the small staff is extremely unprofessional. They answer the phones as if they are miserable, errors plagues emails and new accounts and they are overworked because they are short staffed (by the owner's penny-pinching design.) Those 5-star reviews are not to be believed. You will start EVERY month NEGATIVE $159. They will keep the first $159 you are owed every month from either commission or residuals (or combo) as a "Maintenance Fee" What maintenance? They already take another $64 away from you for EVERY account you have every month! They will give it back to you ONLY if you make 2 sales in a month and they call it an expense bonus. Gee thanks for giving us back our OWN money as a bonus. Ridiculous. You should never have to PAY money to make money. They will lure you in with a "Residuals" chart that is absolutely absurd. Anything is possible, but the reason very few people stay with the company or make real money is because of 2 reasons... 1. They change the comp plan every few months and it always feeds THEIR pockets. 2. They boast a 2% cancellation rate and that is NOT the case at all. The customers that actually USE the program do very well, but it's hard to get some customers to the simple basics and there is a VERY high rate of cancellation. When asked... they will never explain how they get 2%. When the customers don't pay their bills we don't get paid and non-pay is very prevalent specially in this business climate. This is a marketing company, yet they don't do any marketing other than weak social media. As reps, we aren't allowed to use our own service to market ourselves even if we want to pay for it!! HUH?? We have endured absolutely ridiculous mandates such as having to give away our first 3 months of service (and our pay goes with it), and just recently they implemented MAJOR change to the way we do business without telling the sales reps first... it was a huge surprise, implemented poorly with so many items left unanswered and then what happened? That very same day the company President went on a vacation and told everyone (proudly) that he won't be available because he will be golfing. He even went on a 2-month trade of telling us why we should pay extra money out of our own pockets to get referrals from customers! If a lead comes through the website it is given to the VP of Sales. Why not give it to the hard working reps? There are occasional contests when number are low, but sometimes they even tell us that you can only be entered if you get a deal from a particular type of business... like a boutique. Um... SenText gets paid the same amount whether it's a taco place or a boutique, so why disqualify reps if they don't sign up a boutique? It's very un-motivating and it makes no sense. It's a great service for the customers, but as a sales rep - you're not doing yourself any favors by working here.
