I worked at ShipHawk part-time for less than a year

    Pros

First off, the staff is amazing and is a major part of the reason the company is so successful. The teamwork at ShipHawk is astounding to watch and sets a great example for how all teams should work. They are flexible with your hours and very understanding when it comes to special circumstances. Not only will you learn about a special trade (shipping), you will also develop professional and social skills relevant to any field, or even make a friend. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere was one of my favorite things personally because there is music playing in the office and causal day everyday. This makes the work environment more fun and motivating as a result. I would recommend working at this company for anyone who has the opportunity because this is an amazing learning experience.

    Cons

There may be less busy times than others but the work always balances out.

I have been working at ShipHawk full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Amazing leadership team who has open door policies and are very transparent about company direction, all one has to do is ask - Ability to define your own career path. You can start from the bottom and work your way up through the ranks quickly if you show dedication and hard work - Fun and energetic teams across departments - Unlimited PTO, and as long as your get your work done, you can take as much time off as you want

    Cons

    - Startup, so there's always ups and downs with hiring and layoffs - Long work weeks (40+ hours) - A few bad hires that weren't needed and created more work for everyone else

They were very supportive of my desire to grow professionally. It's a very dynamic work environment that keeps you on your toes (it never gets boring here!)

    Cons

Can't say much I don't like. Some minor things that could be improved: - Bad hires that slowed our growth - At times we move a little too fast

    I worked at ShipHawk

    Pros

ShipHawk's product is something truly worth working for. Not only do you feel like your work actually makes an impact, but the transparency of leadership and collaborative nature of the team makes coming to work so easy. With the fast-paced environment that comes with any start-up, there is plenty of room to expand on different skills and areas of interest and great coworkers to help support you.

    Cons

Working at a startup means you must be able to adapt to change at anytime. Sometimes it may feel as if there's so much work piling on at once, but at the end of the day, with the right team and vision, it's not hard to work through any change.

Everyone who works at ShipHawk is friendly CEO has best interest of employees in mind Good benefits, unlimited time off allows for a good balance between work and personal life

    Cons

Management did not have best intentions for employees Always trying to figure out the company "culture" but did not fully develop a culture or community Management tells new hires what they want to hear to get them in the door but does not follow through The company hires inexperienced people but did not give proper training or guidance, management should work with employees more and act as mentors

    ShipHawk Response

December 8, 2016Team and Culture Manager

Thank you for the feedback. We’re sorry that you didn’t experience our Team Culture in the way that many others do. We encourage our Team Members to take ownership over projects and be problem solvers, but we also have an open door policy and encourage everyone to ask questions and ask for help when needed. As you noted, Jeremy definitely cares about the team and would have wanted to hear your concerns during your tenure here. We don’t succeed if our Team Members don’t succeed and grow both professionally and personally, and we’re truly sorry if you didn’t feel we supported and guided while you were here. As for the perks we offer such as subsidized lunches, a dog friendly office and flexible work schedules, they are just that. Perks. We do not intend for those to be the core motivating factors for our Team Members. In addition, all of these perks are Team Member driven, meaning the team actively asked for these benefits. We also feel it’s important to address your comment that we “drink on the job”. We’re actually one of the few startups these days who don’t have kegs in their office on an ongoing basis! Occasionally, we do have an office happy hour where we invite a local brewery in or celebrate a launch with a beer at the end of the day, but it’s not a daily occurrence. We put a lot of energy into hiring the right people for our Team and truly value each and every one of our Team Members (current and former). We are constantly pushing to improve upon our processes and culture as a company, so again, we appreciate your feedback.
