    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Sojitz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Interesting work
    International company
    Multicultural environment
    Good location

    Cons

    Disconnected leadership
    Poor communication
    Poor managers
    Limited room for career growth

    Advice to Management

Depending on where you are in the company, the environment can be very toxic. There are a couple yellers and a lot more managers who don't appreciate the workers. I advise senior management to intervene when employees complain about abusive managers. Don't dismiss complaints and let people sort things out themselves.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Exposure to a wide range of business and product lines: apparel, textiles, chemicals, minerals, food, forestry and communications.

    Cons

It is a Japanese trading company. The culture is very different for an American. Communication is an enormous problem.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees better. Manage projects better. Think through consequences.

    Pros

    The view from the office.

    Cons

    Everything else. Disgusting.

    Advice to Management

Adapt to the 21st century. Accept others cultures and stop forcing Japan down everyone's throats. Shambles.

I have been working at Sojitz full-time

    Pros

Compared to very traditional companies, Sojitz somewhat has a 'younger & more energetic' vibe and seems to be embracing globalization.

    Cons

Fairly standard issues - lots of paperwork/approval processes, and I would say your experience here really depends on your department and boss, as the working culture varies across departments.

    Advice to Management

Cut down paperwork to encourage speedier transactions, be willing to take business risks.
