I recently started and all I can say is wow. This company is not the company it was portrayed to be. The place is extremely trashy, boxes of documents literally stacked and stored in hallways, cigarette burns in the bathroom, trash floating around, old documents from years ago hanging on walls, etc. Even the companies location is in a less than desired part of town. The support department and structure is a joke. This place has zero policies and procedures. It is like everyone is just kind of winging it. The time clocks offered to our clients are extremely outdated with outdated technology. We charge clients a huge markup for these as if they were new when in fact they are old and used. You can buy these time clocks online for half the price. The payroll department is about the only well structured department. I use the word 'structure' loosely, as there is none. But, the payroll specialists are about the only ones that seem to care about the clients. The gals in this department are very nice. A good portion of the people here are decent and nice people, a vast majority have a fake feeling about them, including all in leadership positions, which is about 3 people basically.

The systems the company uses are severely outdated or overly complicated. Southwestern Payroll is the cheapest payroll service for a reason. It is a company full of disgruntled employees who have either quit or currently looking for employment elsewhere. Management is filled with those that have the highest HR complaints. There is a huge problem with cliques, and if you are not welcomed, they will make it their mission to make it miserable for you to come in each day. Like someone else mentioned, they have their struggles with paying company and employee taxes each quarter. Newly implemented clients have received tax notices from the government. The financial situation was so bad that 49% of the company was sold to another company before the tax issues even occurred. The big question within the company is, 'where did the money go that was taken out of clients checks to pay taxes?' Southwestern Payroll is a toxic environment and is a huge risk to those seeking employment, or a payroll or time keeping service.
