I worked at Springfield College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Big company so opportunities to transfer once you are on campus.
    Paychecks on a weekly basis.
Paid Sick time (MA law) for Part time
    Low stress - Slow pace
    Some schedule flexibility

    Cons

Use of PT contract labor with promise of hire for years but then lay you off.
Slow pace, I would ask for work and be told to wait for a manager to come to my office with work (but they never came). So I would sit around doing nothing

I have been working at Springfield College part-time

    Pros

Some good professors to work with

    Cons

Pay is awful, taken for granted and made to do far more than job description. Even with an advanced degree you get paid less than minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Respect your graduate students and pay them in accordance to other universities

I worked at Springfield College full-time

    Pros

Nice looking flowers. Nice looking trees.

    Cons

Dishonesty. Greedy. Insincere. Expedient. Spiteful. Vindicative. Hateful. Leadership morally corrupt.

    Advice to Management

Dishonesty is a vice not a virtue. Senior administration is breathtakingly pernicious and dishonest. This is not a college in the conventional sense of the word but a business and an ugly greedy over at that.

I worked at Springfield College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Springfield College ranks as one of the 25 Colleges With The Worst Return On Investment.

    Cons

Springfield College is an overpriced, mediocre, dysfunctional, recklessly foolish institution unworthy of employee loyalty and trust or students time and money. I have watched for many years as the college, specifically academic affairs bumble, fumble and stumble from one bad decision to another with the off balance trajectory of an aging barfly walking his imaginary pet lion, ill-named “Spirit.” The College administration, particularly the president, are horribly inept and would have a difficult time controlling a room full of catatonics. The college and it’s marketing department fanatically present a false facade to hide the poor quality education the college provides and to hide the malfeasance and the chaos that is slowly bringing the college to it’s knees.
