    Pros

Everyone is very friendly and laid-back. There is a good camaraderie among the employees. The company takes care to ensure that employees are happy and have a good work environment. Fresh bagels every morning. They provide everyone with a MacBook Pro and a secondary monitor, which increases efficiency. The benefits package offered is very comprehensive and average salaries are very competitive. Management is very flexible and allows employees to work however best suits them.

    Cons

There is not always good communication concerning the goals of the company or the goals of an individual project. Although management doesn't breathe down employees' necks, there is sometimes a lack of clarity in job descriptions.

    Advice to Management

Clearly communicate a road map and the goals that the company wants to achieve. Motivate the team with specific goals.

    Pros

I cannot think of a single good thing about this company

    Cons

Abusive, clueless, and most of all childish.

    Advice to Management

Go back to kinder care and learn to get along with others

  3. "lacking direction, leadership and accountability"

    Pros

Brilliant CEO at the time (had since left)
    endless possibilities for the technology

    Cons

No accountability - employees were free to work on just about anything they wanted, regardless of impact on resources and implication on profitability
OTJ training for most senior management - no real experience managing others

    Advice to Management

Tie performance to revenue impact - results matter.
Move tyrants out of the organization - they've burned through way too many talented people

    Pros

In a software startup environment, ideas flow freely. People are less concerned with procedure and rules and more willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

    Cons

On the flip side, there are few procedures or rules. Management changes its mind on company direction often, and when that happens, heads roll.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to pick a direction and stick with it. I realize that life as a startup is a life of danger and volatility, but in order to keep employees productive and not constantly fearing for their safety, some sort of assurances must be made.

I have been working at Strands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The core application is treated with love and care, every time a new technology comes up they find a way to fit it or see if it improves any module of the app.
Work environment is more than excellent, you'll find it very hard not to fit.
It has that "startup" essence but within a company that works with the most important banks in the world.
Transparency, lots of meetings, updates, hackatons, dinners, groceries (lots of them...) and very nice expectations for the future.

    Cons

None directly related to the company that I could think of.

I worked at Strands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly vibe with minimal red tape and bureaucracy, talented workers and a good development flow for the product.

    Cons

Not many that I can think of. It's a crowded space, so we'll see what the future holds in terms product development, but Strands has a unique business model that has the potential to be successful.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!
