I have been working at Taboola full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best office culture I could ask for. They spend un-godly amounts of money to make sure I'm happy every day. I know my value here. I'm not a number.

    Cons

They don't pay the most compared to others in ad-tech but to me, it's worth the pay cut to be this happy in office.

I have been working at Taboola full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, young, fun, focus on employees.
Office space and location are the best.
    Smart people
Working with people around the globe
    Annual sales kickoff is awesome
    Exposure to cool technologies
Transparent and open - management presents quarterly updates, always open for Q&A

    Cons

If you are not familiar with Israeli work culture, make sure to check it before you join. Hebrew is constantly spoken in the office, some senior managers are very aggressive, favoritism towards Israelis.

Lack of diversity - only one woman on the executive team (of more than 20). During 3 days sales kickoff event, not a single woman took the stage.

    Advice to Management

Work on diversity. Make sure you acknowledge the global nature of the company and promote or hire other types of people.

    Go public :-)

    I worked at Taboola full-time

    Pros

Fun work events, great people on the individual contributor level, strong leadership on team and executive levels.

Strong US content policy team with great leadership and understanding of the nuance that is involved in what should and shouldn't be put in front of users.

Benefits are good and the facilities are great.

Adam is a friendly, talented, and smart CEO.

    Cons

Wages far below industry standard, limited growth paths for most roles, falsely claimed 'flat hierarchy' is actually an eggshell ridden political mess, huge technical debt.

Favoritism is a huge issue here, newer employees may find it very difficult or impossible to advance into the roles they're best suited for and the company is very stingy with wages despite the massive revenue numbers that are boasted.

While executive leaders have good ideology, this does not seem to trickle down. The HR team is friendly and wants to help, but their influence is not where it should be in terms of checks and balances.

Particular employees have worked odd and varying hours for years are still working for their starting (hourly) wage - their compensation has not even matched inflation.

    Advice to Management

Promote internally. Stop hiring external managers who have to be trained by the people you've passed up for promotions. Pay people enough to get by in NYC. Find a way to stop rewarding the loudest and most stubborn employees and instead reward the most hard working and knowledgable.

I have been working at Taboola full-time

    Pros

    Outstanding culture
    Motivated, bright people
    Opportunities for growth
    Recognition of top performers
    Top company in the industry
Constant innovation- never complacent about success
Great work/life balance- nobody works past 6:30pm
Beautiful office in a great location
    Free food in the kitchen
    Opportunity for travel

    Cons

Base salary is low compared to the rest of the industry

    Advice to Management

Pay your top performers and stop negotiating with them over a frivolous amount like $10K in salary- it's not worth it and leaves people with a bad taste in their mouth. If you simply gave the raise without top people having to ask and fight for it, they'd be infinitely more motivated to stay and grow with the company.

I have been working at Taboola full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Willing to make major organizational changes for long-term growth

-Transparent culture. All Hands from different divisions are held monthly. Q&A with execs are held quarterly.

-Sales Kick Off with all regions brings a global feeling to sales organization

-Rewarded if you stand out from the rest. Good challenge for a very entitled group

    Cons

-Typical millennial culture. Biggest concern is there's not enough diversified and equally paid gluten-free pita bread in the fridge.

-Can be annoying about office party attendance

    Advice to Management

-More experienced talent will create a more mature culture.

-Office parties should be optional. Don't put people on the spot.

-Are we going public or looking to get bought? I get that it's better to keep your cards close but drop a hint now and then baby

I worked at Taboola full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

CEO has strong values and creates a democratic transparent culture in All Hands meetings
Start-up like environment with cool offices
    Awesome parties, snacks, catered lunches
Growing company (doubled the size within a year) and still has huge potential to grow even further with video and sponsored ads
Great technology recommending millions of sponsored ads and organic content on premium publisher sites
Very fast paced environment, challenging and demanding hours
Great opportunities for self growth and to learn the ad-tech space
    Passionate intelligent colleagues
Global exposure through working across geographies and time zones
Company is investing into new products, innovates constantly to stay competitive in ever changing ad-tech space. It has become a platform company with lots of video, e-mail, and editorial solutions rather than a widget company

    Cons

Often times things are done in a chaotic and unorganized manner
Heavy Jewish culture, you will hear hebrew in the office all the time.
Most of the managers or team leads have been promoted to their roles due to time spent in the company not because of their skills, leadership potential or people management skills
You need to be a part of the original gang that established the company in the early days. The employees who joined later are just filling in the open roles.
Some of the top executives are not friendly, do not care about employees at the bottom.
There is no career planning and performance management.
Favorite employees get promoted easily, move to different roles, take sabbaticals, come late and leave early. Often times you will hear the term: “We like you”. Favoritism creates unfair environment for the company's success.
New products are rushed to the market without proper planning. Sales Teams and Account Managers are selling half-baked products that are not ready for the market. Product and Professional Services are carrying the burden to make things happen.

    Advice to Management

Hire senior managers with ad industry experience
Train managers that lack people management skills
Create better HR processes and career path for all employees
Increase collaboration and communication between departments
Keep on investing on the new products

I worked at Taboola full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    nice people and office
    autonomy in your work

    Cons

    managers need training
most employees are unhappy about compensation
not much career growth - you only really get promoted if you're a "favorite"
senior management pretty much just cares about money money money, but most employees will never see any of it

    Advice to Management

stop claiming to be the next tech giant if you're clearly not treating your employees as one and start providing proper training for your managers, because most do not know how to manage smart people
