Thanks so much for the positive words. The hackathon was fun! Yep, you’re right that time is challenge, but the LA team is sooooo worth it.

    Pros

    Some nice people
    Growing fast

    Cons

Growing too fast, the impression is that most managers have no clue of what they are doing, salary is very low for the industry, very low possibility to grow.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. They are mostly unhappy.

    Taboola Response

I have been working at Taboola full-time

    Pros

From the first day you join, you're going to be involved in high stake and big impact projects. Because of the skyrocket trajectory of the company, you end up working across many timezones and offices (LA, NYC, TLV, London, Bangalore, Bangkok, etc.), as well as dealing with international (Germany, UK, Japan, Korea, Mexico, France, etc) and big names customers and partners in the Industry. Taboola R&D uses the latest technologies (ReactJS, NodeJS, Spark, Kibana, Cassandra, BigQuery, etc.) so as an engineer, this is the dream job when you want to get your hands on real life use cases! Many Taboola R&D teams also follow Scrum and pushes you to deliver quick-to-market and production-ready increments of your projects. There's never a dull moment!

TL;DR - If you are scientifically curious, you love solving complex puzzles, you enjoy working in a fun team, and you are not afraid of new technologies, come join our Taboola R&D team!

PS: there's also catered food, free drinks, ping pong, outing/activities, hackathon, meet up

    Cons

This is a challenging environment, people will question your decisions so it's important that you can articulate your thoughts. You're also typically part of a team, and if you're doing great, you will be moved to other teams to broaden your knowledge of the technology stack, so you could be involved in front end and middle layer technologies! At times, it will feel like a mountain of work to do in a short amount of time, but you're here to learn to be more efficient, better manage your time and priority, and work as a team.

Commute time is bad but this is LA, so little we can do /shrugs

    Advice to Management

    Continue hiring top engineers
    Keep and grow the culture

    Taboola Response

I have been working at Taboola full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You work with some of the smartest people in the industry
The team has no egos. They just want to get the job done by innovating and staying ahead of the curve
You work with cutting edge tech stack. There is always something to learn everyday
The data size that Taboola is working on is comparable to any of the big companies out there. So every change that you make is going to impact at a large scale
The management is pretty understanding and fair. They make sure everyone gets a good work life balance
Living in LA, the team has to deal with traffic and long commute times. The management works with you to provide flexible work hours and if needed work from home days as well
Plenty of free food in the office. Twice weekly free lunches catered
In all of my career this is the best team I ever worked with

    Cons

You need to be prepared to learn. You will find a lot of smart people which might be intimidating. Although they are all very helpful and very good mentors
You will need to adjust to being part of a multi timezone, multi continent company. Although you don't need to work on other timezones, but sometimes you need to wait the next day to get an answer since the other person is on a different continent

    Advice to Management

Lets continue the amazing growth and connect more people with Taboola's discovery platform. Lets make sure the work culture does not change as Taboola grows.

    Pros

Really love working here. Amazing product that works--super rare in ad tech. Great sales team, good compensation structure. Management is accessible and open/honest. Amazing culture in the office, solid work/life balance.

    Cons

Still a startup forging its path. Lots of new ideas are tested and either work fast or fail fast. Seems a little ADD sometimes, but that's also the fun of a startup. Spend less money on food/drinks in the office and give us more money in our pocket.

    Advice to Management

More direction on how to define success would be helpful. Inter departmental communication would improve (but I know everyone is working on it).
