I worked at Texaco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good compensation, pleasant work colleagues.

    Cons

Huge organization; easy to get lost in shuffle.

    Advice to Management

(Management behaves as you would expect. Business is in existence to get the most out of labor while spending as little as possible on compensation...)

    Cons

Everything else Management was more enthusiastic about retribution than improving personal performance. Poisonous working conditions.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be a better manager. Public punishment is not a good motivator.

    Pros

Interesting company to work for with lots of responsibilities & opportunities; focused on refining, pipelines and marine transportation business while employee.

    Cons

Number of executive decisions and costly lawsuit, as well as price environment, made company ripe for acquisition

I worked at Texaco part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was a great opportunity to learn skills of customer service and cashier duties. It was nice getting this opportunity of learning through a small setting with only two cash registers.

    Cons

Working in a gas station forces you to work with uncomfortable clientel. People would come in and buy a pack of cigarettes and lottery tickets with only pennies and lent.

    Advice to Management

Keep things flowing the same way. I think Texaco provides great quality fuel with an iconic logo. The set up of the company is great for the gas station business.

I worked at Texaco part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was fun meeting a wide variety of people, and it was also beneficial learning about the ins and outs of running a business in a financial context. Also the franchise owner was a pretty good guy.

    Cons

It's a gas station, so it's hard to say much. I suppose it's not a bad first or second job, but there's an inherent lack of opportunity at places like that.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like you would like to be treated. I understand that the days can be long but we can still be good to each other.

    I worked at Texaco full-time

    Pros

The coworkers I have worked with were friendly. I was able to eat snacks and drinks from time to time without paying for it.

    Cons

Having to work early morning shifts, last-minute schedule changes, having to deal with rude customers, and standing up the whole time.
