I have been working at UES full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company provides good working and training environment and you can receive new exciting challenges daily from your job. The company provides good health insurance and flexible spending account. You will enjoy work here.

    Cons

Most employees work as contractors for the WPAFB through this company and the tenure period of the job depends on the contract period from the base.

    Advice to Management

Most employers manage several projects simultaneously

Government contract based projects. Clear goals and full support to achieve them. Supports research beyond contract towards product and patent development.

    Cons

It would be good to show more respect to the scientists even when their work is failing...

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at UES full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work pace is very relaxing, no push from the management. As long as you maintain a close relationship with the Govt. people you are safe. They have summer picnic at the Kings Island Water Park, Christmas party at the corporate office. Good for recent local graduates, undergraduates with no other offer in hand.

    Cons

This is a govt. contracting company with very very poor benefit package (way below than national average with similar level of experience). They get lots of money from the federal govt. for the project and give employee very less amount. There is no career growth opportunity in the company. All the people basically stays in the same position for the entire of their life. If you need a job in Dayton area to stay close to your family then it is fine, otherwise this is not a prospective company to work for. This is a company where Govt. people at the WPAFB place their temporary workers on a contract basis for getting rid of payroll hassles. This place is ideal for undergraduates or recent graduates with no other offer in hand. Due to poor compensation they could not hire smart people and the people usually work here are very laid back.

    Advice to Management

Increase the compensation package and attract good and smart people.

    Pros

Pay is fair, your voice is heard if you make suggestions even from a low ranking position, the company is passionate about the future of technology and willing to hear out its employees.

    Cons

If you work for them at WPAFB you may find it at times hard to get things done given the restrictions...but this is more of a government issue, not a UES issue.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do, respecting your employees and paying them fairly.

    Cons

Takes a while to get your first paycheck and a little underpaid, but you get to do research in the best US places.
