Pros

Nothing about this company is positive

Cons

not stable due to a lack of funding, cash flow, and very few customers to keep the lights on without large donor funding. The concept is cool but not practical and needed by the large customers they hope to push it on. Constant layoffs around funding cycles and holidays. The management team/leadership is too arrogant and pretentious to seek, let alone take advice to make changes, Sinking ship. Dont join.

Pros

- Unlimited PTO - Relatively light workload - Opportunities to grow in your role

Cons

- Very outdated SDLC and engineering practices - Resistant to change, constructive criticism - Ivy league/Caltech graduates will always be held in higher regard and treated better than other employees - General lack of professionalism and emotionally immature culture

Pros

Very bright and collegial coworkers, workload is very reasonable, interesting work. Roles are flexible within a team so you get broad exposure. Turnover is very low as a testament to the superior working environment, though some have been laid off in the recent past (not data scientists or devs). Pay is high for individual contributors compared to other public sector roles where you get pressured to do sales work and 50-60 hour work weeks. They sell software not bodies which makes all the difference.

Cons

Not many in-person meetups though this may change. Setting up your software environment and troubleshooting when it goes awry can be annoying, but understandable for a software dev startup. The equity offer was low compared to the salary, though this isn't necessarily a con, just a matter of preference.
