    Pros

I have worked at quite a few different companies, but working at Grace has felt different; at least within my group, and it makes you really feel like you could see yourself here for the rest of your career.

    I have been working at W. R. Grace & Co. full-time

    Pros

Integrity and commitment to growth in the top leadership ranks is unparalleled. They work so that everyone feels committed to the vision and part of the solution.

    Cons

    Fairly stingy with vacation time.

I have been working at W. R. Grace & Co. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Senior leaders show integrity in decision making, even when decisions affect jobs or investment

    Strong commitment to growth

    Genuine commitment to safety

    Cons

Some folks work harder than others, but that's the way the world works

    Advice to Management

Pressure for quarterly results and buoying the stock price (obviously affecting most public companies) can impede long-view actions

    I worked at W. R. Grace & Co. full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Competitive benefits package, specifically retirement planning
    - Talent and teamwork at "ground level"

    Cons

    - Leadership is crippled with indecision and constantly reassessing old options rather than trying to move forward
    - Management is typically short-sighted
    - Often see colleagues being rewarded for being able to manage perceptions rather than actually doing good work
    - Lack of advancement opportunities is demoralizing
    - Punitive culture

    Advice to Management

If you take a look at the attrition rates for the company, and especially for the employees in the "prime of their career" (i.e. 35-50), you cannot ignore each voluntary departure as an anomaly, but must see the picture as a whole and wonder why so much talent is running for the exit doors

I have been working at W. R. Grace & Co. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits. Health insurance, 401K, vision, dental. Also, there is free coffee in the break room.

    Cons

Oppressive "safety culture" that results in many condescending lectures about using hand rails and absolutely no action to address the actual danger posed by laboratory equipment and chemicals.

    Advice to Management

Don't tell people they might get fired if you catch them not using a handrail. Especially when the labs are stocked with carcinogens that aren't even legal in Europe.

    I worked at W. R. Grace & Co. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

6% 401k and benifts are marginal

    Cons

No work life balance, you have to live the place. Never disconnected. Clicks and you can trust absolutely no one. Buildings are old and unsafe. Needs a major facelift.

    Advice to Management

You can not fix yourself by breaking others.
