    Pros

Very diverse company always looking for better ways to improve. Pay is pretty decent benefits are awesome. Lots of hire management has been around over 40 years very dedicated.

    Cons

They are not always fair when it comes to promotions. But there is opportunity to grow depending on who you're working under.

    Advice to Management

    Treat all employees the same!

I have been working at Walbridge full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong management support on projects; operationally strong leadership. Planning and Leadership are the key components everyone is grade on. Its all about execution on safety, budget, schedule and quality. Very strong on industrial projects.

    Cons

Fun isn't a word used to describe Walbridge. There is a very much a military style environment. Their strong commitment to accomplishing the mission seems to overtake the concept that individuals could be enjoying their projects. Most of Walbridge's work comes from Industrial work where deadlines and safety are what matter most. This hampers efforts to cross over into the commercial world where the company lags behind overs. Industrial work - there isn't a company in the US that can beat Walbridge on execution. Quick promotions are rare - you need to earn your spot. Also seems to be preset timeline on how long you are in a position before moving on.

I worked at Walbridge full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

100 year old profitable well known company. Great infrastructure for training and career development. Very nice personable people from VPs to Interns

    Cons

Promotions seem to be handed out on a brown noising basis. Work ethic and productivity are not recognized nor rewarded. Bonus for lower level employees are very low and unfair. Rules only apply to those below Assistant VP positions for the most part. Too many bosses for each individual, poor communication between departments and unrealistic expectations for difficult tasks.

    Advice to Management

If you want to hold younger talent, compensate them and make them feel like you want them to stick around. I felt I had to stay there 20 years just to get some recognition.

    I worked at Walbridge full-time

    Pros

Walbridge is very good at marketing and branding. They have a good reputation with their customers. They're an ENR (Engineering News & Record) top 40 construction company. They're always hiring.

    Cons

The hours were crushing as a Cost Analyst at Walbridge. The minimum was 50 hours per week. Any special projects, and during Gross Margin Reviews, it was a lot more than 50. If you complain about it, it'll be held against you on your annual performance review. Walbridge is big brother: they monitor and report personal internet use of your work computer, they conduct frequent random drug testing (not just pre-employment), and they require annual blood testing for health insurance rates.

    Advice to Management

It's okay to express gratitude to your employees; say "thank you" once in a while.

I have been working at Walbridge full-time

    Pros

Nice to all employees. Most employees are senior people who have lots of experience. Main office is located at downtown Detroit where is booming and lots of activities are going on there during weekdays. You can go for lunch with your colleagues and enjoy music band and amazing food at downtown Detroit everyday!!

    Cons

Everyone has his own cubicle instead of open-space office which can block communication. But senior employees may want more privacy. Also, Walbridge is a large company so it will take some time to be familiar with others.

    Advice to Management

Hire more young people and have more group activities.

I worked at Walbridge full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Main office has great location in downtown Detroit and most of the employees are friendly and nice to work with.

    Cons

Senior management doesn't seem to care about the employees. Raises are minimal. Emphasis on training and development but very little support given to those that seek growth opportunities. As a construction company, people working in the main office are viewed as lesser employees by some of the leadership - regardless of how hard you work or contribute. Talk a lot about innovative culture, but has done nothing to show it.
