I worked at Want Want full-time

    Pros

Strong corporate culture. Plenty of career opportunities. Great employee restaurant inside the building. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Conservative business decision making. Most of the power is controlled by a handful of management. Heavy centralized decision making power. Salary is not very attractive.

    Advice to Management

Management should value the talents and provide competitive compensations and benefits plans to employees in order to retain key talents.

I worked at Want Want full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

well-known brand name due to early entry to china market. good coverage of local distribution channels and outlet stores. comprehensive product lines. diversified line of business. give employees near-expire products as benefit from time to time.

    Cons

highly centralized family business. stingy pay slightly below market average. japanese style org culture such as group morning exercise, singing corporate song with regulated movements, read out loud company slogans, etc.. strict line of command almost like military style, but yet no discipline nor core standards to follow.

    Advice to Management

corporate culture is out of date, and becoming a barrier to intellectuals. ease up the dictator management style. look beyond and outside of old time glory and success.

    Pros

Reached all the museum around the world, and met lots of people from different fields.
Knew how to make a marketing proposal by yourself, and present your idea to the target companies.
Implement the strategy you made and face the fails you made then fix it also by yourself.

    Cons

It's a challenge to negotiate with everyone not only your customers but also colleagues.

I worked at Want Want full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a really big consumer product company that focuses on the mainland China market. A great place to learn the market and Chinese business culture. A lot of people come from all parts of China so it would be challenging to work with them in the beginning. Loads of work, but you will be able to learn quite a lot in a short period of time.

If you want a stable work, this is the place. But if you want to excel and build career in short period of time, the HR won't let you. You would have to be at a certain age, then they will assign you to a better position.

    Cons

    1. No training
    2. The only way to build career is through their MA program
    3. Managers and directors lack communication
    4. Poor HR department
    5. Somewhat like Japanese companies; full contribution doesn't give you better salary nor job title, you have to wait for your superiors to leave or get promoted.

    Advice to Management

    OK salary but no benefits.
