I worked at Wisconsin Public Service full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

High pay, great benefits, excellent structure. Opportunities for promotion. Pay increases. Tons of overtime capability. Overtime is paid by 15 minute increments.

    Cons

100% micro managed. Calls are reviewed monthly and nothing is ever perfect. Customers can be horrible and you cannot end call unless very specific guidelines are met.

    Advice to Management

You have to micro manage to uphold standards, but its very undesirable in a job

I have been working at Wisconsin Public Service full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice benefits package, good pay for cost of living in area, never no work to do if you are motivated and interested in this field

    Cons

A lot of uncertainty with recent acquisition (July 2015) at the time of this review
It seems the new company is more about profit and less about its employees, but that could change as well once the dust settles

    Pros

    Cons

very snobby and cliques in every department- extreme micro managing to the point you walk on eggshells daily- pay isn't worth the disrespect and terrible manangement

    Advice to Management

hire leaders who are leaders not power hungry micro managers

    Pros

The pay is much higher than most other jobs in the area. Especially when it comes to starting pay. Benefits like health coverage are good especially if you are only claiming yourself. Most of the people there have been there for most of their careers. Employees and the company are very community focused.

    Cons

Promotions are usually based on seniority more than qualifications for some positions. Because of the nature of some of the positions in the company, you may have to work long hours or during the middle of the night. Some of the equipment and trucks are older and should be replaced.

    Advice to Management

Give people recognition on a regular basis for what the do so they know that they are being noticed.

I worked at Wisconsin Public Service full-time

    Pros

Good Benefits and Pay, nice people, nice equipment, good hours.

    Cons

Inconsistent accountability, managers wont stick up for you, very political, some departments are very clicky, people from Green Bay headquarters tend to be arrogant, union doesn't stick up for you and tends to get in the way of advancement.

    Advice to Management

Hourly employees don't trust their managers. It also doesn't make sense to discipline the hard workers who try and go lightly on the people who don't work hard.

I have been working at Wisconsin Public Service full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company offers good benefits, insurance and compensation. There are many different careers available ranging from outside work on electric and natural gas facilities.

    Cons

Depending on the work, the hours can be extremely long and travel required at times. This can be especially challenging for younger families when striving for a work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Career advancement opportunities are unclear to employees which contributes to overall dissatisfaction with an employees career and job searching elsewhere leading to good employees leaving the company.
