I have been working at gyrodata full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally easy MWD jobs. Simple software, rigging up, and programming of tools.

    Cons

Becoming more bureaucratic and more people looking over your shoulder.

    Advice to Management

Back off on some of the paperwork and restrictions for field personnel.

I have been working at gyrodata full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company vehicle. Decent vacation. Paychecks don’t bounce. Sometimes the company will buy you lunch. You get a new pair of work boots every 2 years.

    Cons

The people in HQ get all the tools they need to do their job and the other districts get scraps. If you do something good that someone in HQ didn’t have a hand in then they will cancel the project. Then assign it to one of the “in crowd” so they can look good.

    Advice to Management

    Learn how to manage.

I have been working at gyrodata full-time

    Pros

Good people and most of the time operations run smoothly.

    Cons

Their have been a vast number of changes since I've started that not only make all of our business processes take longer but also it seems that upper management doesn't take notice to loyalty and effort/time put in to make the business run as seamlessly as possible in the current situation or if they do notice, you as an employee can't tell. Also, every division of the company no matter how far up you are in the chain of command is being loaded with more responsibility with what seems to be no intention at increasing compensation. There doesn't seem to be very many opportunities to move up the ladder in the company because people higher up would rather hire from outside of the employee pool to fill the positions that would allow the people that have been with the company to progress in their career.

    Advice to Management

If it's not broke, don't fix it. Quit making things more complicated than they need to be. It seems the moral of the current employees is hanging by a string. I don't think it will be long before the string breaks and people start looking into other opportunities if someone doesn't start listening. At least I like my co-workers and environment that I see day to day.

I worked at gyrodata full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, great benefits, 401k, company truck, and advancement opportunities. Always working in a different locations all the time. Was home daily for the most part.

    Cons

On call 24/7 no schedule at all. No scheduled days off other that vacation. Always called out on short notice having to report to the shop within an hour of getting a phone call. Often quick turnaround from one job to the next with very little off time in between.

    Advice to Management

Don't just lay off field hands that have been with the company for several years without speaking to them about alternative solutions.
