A group of 25 Acumed volunteers, led by the company's Green Team, recently pitched in for a socially distanced cleanup of Orchard Park in Hillsboro, near our corporate headquarters. Collectively, the team gathered 35 large bags of trash. The Green Team collaborates with SOLVE Oregon each year to host a summer event that Acumed employees, family, and friends have generously and enthusiastically embraced. Thanks for your participation, everyone!

Today we're celebrating Acumed project manager Rique Ortega's work with In4All, an Oregon organization that brings together businesses and schools to provide learning experiences that help historically underserved students aspire to careers in fields they might not otherwise consider possible. Here's what Rique says about volunteering with In4All: "The students are so excited to learn--and to see the spark in their eyes when they find a STEM-related activity that grabs their interest is just one example of why this work is worthwhile. I am excited to continue to work with In4All and help bring about positive change to our community." Learn more about Rique and In4All. https://www.in4all.org/
This is what we believe. And this is our commitment—to our employees, to our customers, to everyone.
Last Friday's Quarantine Interrupted virtual living room concert offered a joyful shared experience for our teams who have been physically distanced due to COVID-19. Not only did more than 100 of us watch "live" acoustic music from The Corcorans via Instagram, we got the opportunity to share greetings and reconnect in real time with colleagues and friends across the globe.
Hand specialist and plastic surgeon Dr. Janelle Wagner visited the Acumed Studio recently and shared her perspectives on trauma and hand surgery in the emergency room and the OR. Watch the video with the link below.
We couldn’t be prouder of our Research & Development team for their creative solution to the urgent need for personal protective equipment (PPE), including face shields for healthcare workers battling COVID-19. Under pressure to creative a feasible design quickly, they overcame obstacles including a lack of material sources. The final face shield design uses a 3-D printed head piece with parts manufactured in Acumed’s facility using our own equipment. The design, with an adhesive-backed foam piece for comfort and to create a seal with the user’s forehead, allows for the headpiece to be reused while the face shield is disposable. The team’s goal is to ultimately make 2,000 face shields over the coming weeks.
Acumed was the first company to offer precontoured plates for the clavicle and scapula, and our Polarus 3 Solution was first to market with a plate and nail in the same system for shoulder fractures. See our latest journal ad featuring our solutions for complex shoulder girdle and rib injuries.
