A Family That Showed Up When It Mattered Most When COVID changed the world, it also changed the way we worked, cared and leaned on each other. For Amanda, a nurse on the front lines, those long days and uncertain nights were spent caring for patients who were scared, isolated and fighting for their lives. But she wasn't facing the challenge alone. Working beside her was someone she had looked up to her entire life - her mom, a CNA. Together they comforted patients, held hands when families couldn't be there and reminded people that even in the hardest moments, compassion still lived inside hospital walls. Behind the scenes, the rest of the family stepped up, too. Amanda's husband, Nathan, a construction manager, worked tirelessly to help build the physical barriers that protected patients and staff. When the hospital needed new walls and separated isolation areas quickly, he and his team made it happen, transforming spaces almost overnight so caregivers could continue doing their work safely. And making sure those spaces truly protected everyone was Amanda's dad, a system control specialist. He helped ensure the hospital's negative air pressure systems were working efficiently, quietly playing a critical role in keeping staff, patients and families safe. Four different roles. One shared mission. Together, this family helped protect our community.
Men living with an enlarged prostate now have access to a cuttingâedge treatment option right here at Blessing Hospital. AquablationÂŽ is a robotically-assisted, heatâfree waterjet procedure that removes excess prostate tissue with incredible precision. Why this matters: đ Heatâfree, waterâbased treatment means less risk of damaging surrounding tissue đ¤ Robotic guidance + realâtime ultrasound provide minimal side effects âąď¸ Most patients only need an overnight stay due to the minimally-invasive procedure đ¨ââď¸ Performed locally by Blessing urologists Dr. Bradley Holland and Dr. David Lieber âThe robotic system uses artificial intelligence to help with the detailed planning of the procedure. As surgeons, we still have to precisely control the instruments, but these new techniques facilitate the process, making everything more accurate,â informs Dr. Lieber. âWe are also streamlining processes outside the operating room before surgery and in the recovery room, making it possible for people to go home the same day, making their recovery better.â Learn more: https://bit.ly/3N0wbkt

â¤ď¸ How a Phone Call Between Two 90-Year-Old Veterans Saved a Life When 91-year-old Marine Corps veteran Jim Nauert was told he needed a heart valve replacement, he wanted nothing to do with it. Uneasy about medical procedures, Jim was ready to refuse the lifesaving TAVR procedure recommended by his care team. That's until a fellow veteran, 92-year-old Donald Nagel, picked up the phone. What followed was a powerful reminder that sometimes the strongest medicine is human connection. Donaldâs encouragement gave Jim the courage to move forward, leading to a successful procedure and a brand-new outlook on life.
