Dawid Jurga and Mateusz Rusin explained how they work without ORM, how they organize the code. It was nice to see how they used that simple change to force themselves to achieve better layer separations and code organization. Even if they admit that there is a higher cost in the context of writing more code and maintaining a bigger code base, they gain on application performance, remove the temptations of using shortcuts, and gain great code readability and easiness of debugging possible issues.
