As Black History Month 2023 draws to a close, we are proud to reflect on the wonderful events that have taken place across Cygnet. There have been over 20 occasions across our Services that have explored and celebrated rich cultures, plus there have been many inspirational stories told. Alice Zimba launched Black History Month for us here at Cygnet by writing a powerful blog - ‘Saluting Our Sisters’, the theme of this year’s celebrations. Alice is our Clinical Manager and Registered Manager at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage, and, Co-Chair of the Cygnet Women’s Network. Cygnet Beeches, in Retford, celebrated with their staff and residents by throwing a party. Traditional dress was welcomed and everyone enjoyed some delicious food cooked by Support Worker, David, which included; jollof rice, fried rice, fried plantain, chicken, and puff puff. A brilliant time was had by all. Emmanuel, a Support Worker and Multicultural Network Ambassador at Cygnet Acer Clinic in Chesterfield, helped celebrate by organising multiple events for his Service, which included; weekly movie nights watching films that reflect Black History, plus several cultural talks, Karaoke nights, with traditional music and dancing, plus food and fashion events that showcased different cultures. A huge thank you - to our Colleagues, our Network Ambassadors, and, our Service Users, who have all embraced the opportunities of Black History Month 2023, to celebrate, learn, and raise awareness.
We're Celebrating... 35 years of 'Improving Lives Together' October marks Cygnet’s 35th anniversary and we are delighted to be celebrating this significant milestone throughout the month with events at our Services and we will be taking the opportunity to look back on our many achievements over this time.
