While her title has changed a few times, Katia’s passion for helping others has continued in every role. As a student in Duke’s Professional Nursing Assistant Program, she validated her nursing calling and knew that Duke Health was the place for her. After graduating from the University of Lynchburg a year later, Katia became a Clinical Nurse at Duke Health. With the support of leadership, Katia has continued to grow her career advancing to become an Assistant Nurse Manager all while pursuing her Master’s degree with the help of Duke tuition assistance programs. On his very first day with us, Blake could already tell the Duke Health environment was unlike anything he’d experienced before. After being born at Duke University Hospital and growing up surrounded by family members who were employed at Duke, Shondalyn always felt destined to do the same. Nam was going through the Duke Health newsletter when he first discovered the many affinity groups we sponsor throughout the health system.
