Members of our Women in Leadership Employee Resource Group built gingerbread houses as they discussed an article called "Career Advice I'd Give My Younger Self" as well as the career lessons they've learned from their own experiences, like the importance of negotiating, building strong professional networks, taking career risks, and creating a personal brand.
GATX is proud of our 25 years of partnership with Make-A-Wish and grateful to have the opportunity to help create hope and joy for children with critical illnesses.

As volunteers at the Illinois Railway Museum, GATX colleagues Matt Swiontek and Ryan Daleen repair and operate trains and teach visitors about the history of railroads in the United States. “It’s a lot of fun to get behind the throttle of a 100 year old piece of machinery and take people for a ride,” Matt says. “But more importantly, I enjoy having the privilege of educating the public on the rich history of railroading and the railroad’s impact on the nation. Not many people realize how important trains have been and still are to the world, so it’s our mission at the Illinois Railway Museum to keep that history alive for generations to come.”
GATX colleagues virtually visited our partner schools in Chicagoland this month. We led STEM activities, like making magnetic slime and building robot arms, with students at Academy of St. Benedict the African, and we participated in trivia contests with students at St. Margaret of Scotland. Thanks to the teachers and students who welcomed us into their classrooms and to Big Shoulders Fund for helping to coordinate!
Last week, we launched our annual Make-A-Wish campaign. Below is what Make-A-Wish had to say about our partnership. "GATX has continuously proved to be an invaluable partner with over $4.5 MILLION raised for wish children and their families. Their continued commitment and partnership helps to grant life-changing wishes, and this year their support means more than ever."
