The first Narcan vending machine in Genesee County, located at the MTA bus stop in downtown Flint, has been used 500 times since it was installed only 3 weeks ago.

This is a collaboration with Community Mental Health agencies across the State. GHS collaborates with Genesee County police agencies and officers and offers them Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training.
Free Narcan and fentanyl testing strips are now available from a vending machine unveiled today in downtown Flint. It’s the first such machine in Genesee County, located inside of the Flint Mass Transportation Authority Transit Center. It was funded by a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services grant to Genesee Community Health Center, which works alongside Genesee Health System.
With demand for Behavioral Health Urgent Care services doubling since August 2022, Genesee Health System extends BHUC in-person services to include weekends.
Aimee LaFear, Children’s Integrated Center services supervisor for Genesee Health System, speaks to Second Wave Media about foster care and mental health. “Our staff really work to not only address the mental health pieces of what’s going on, but also the other factors that play into permanency and stability that sometimes are the barriers to treatment.”
