Two-thirds of low-income households are unaware that broadband social tariffs exist, new research has revealed. Some 16 million people are estimated to be eligible for the tariffs but as little as 15% apply for them, according to research from uSwitch. 🚀 We're partnering with London Borough of Lambeth 🚀 Council tenants and leaseholders across Lambeth can now access dramatically faster internet speeds thanks to a new partnership between Lambeth Council and broadband providers, which we are proud to be partnering. In just 6 months, over 6,000 new fibre optic connections have been installed across 22 council estates as part of the council’s new estate fibre programme. Once complete, 34,000 council homes and community spaces will be connected to fibre optic broadband, so no one is locked out of online opportunities by a poor connection 📶. We've been actively taking part in the Greater London Authority (GLA) Design Labs programme since the beginning of the year, helping tackle the under-representation of young black men in the construction and infrastructure sectors. Throughout this time, we've been working with The Equal Group — whose goal is to eliminate issues of bias in the workplace — on putting together a longer-term action plan on what we, Hyperoptic, can do to make a real difference.
