We're proud to be participating in the Greater London Authority (GLA) Design Labs 12-month programme tackling the under-representation of young Black men in the construction and infrastructure sectors. This programme is part of the Workforce Integration Network (WIN) within the Mayor of London’s Strategy for Social Integration to improve pathways for under-represented groups in the workplace. Naleena Gururani, our Chief People Officer says: “Hyperoptic embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The GLA WIN Design Labs programme perfectly aligned to our values of scaling our workforce with diversity at its heart.” #GLADesignLabsWIN #youngblackmenWIN
At the start of the year, we normally gather in person for our company kick-off event, but of course, this year it all looks a little bit different! Earlier this week, we hosted the first of a series of virtual gatherings where we could reflect on 2020, recognise our high performing Hyperheroes, and get excited about what is to come, with our CEO Dana and the Executive Leadership Team sharing their vision for the year.
Here's Josh, one of our Senior Customer Build Engineers, sharing what he loves about working at Hyperoptic right now: “Being part of the Hyperoptic family is great! You get to work with some amazing and friendly people on a daily basis, and are always learning things to better your career and help evolve the company at the same time. At Hyperoptic we’re adapting to the current situation and I’m a part of that by visiting the local area installing and maintaining the customer network. It’s great to see the look on customers faces when they realise the speeds Hyperoptic reach, and also fills me with a sense of pride knowing we’re doing everything we can to keep the country working and safe at home.” #ProudToBeAKeyWorker #WeAreHyperoptic
Since March this year, we have hired 314 new employees! Our doors are definitely open, and we're hiring a Change Control Manager:
Who's watching the ISPA awards? We're thrillied to be nominated for Best Consumer ISP, Best Business, and Best Customer Service. Make sure to tune in now, we'll be keeping our finger's crossed: https://bit.ly/3fhlWmv #ISPAawards
Did you know it was #STEMday yesterday? In honour of that, we chatted with Jakia, one of our Customer Build engineers, about what gets her out of bed in the morning after working at Hyperoptic for two years. "Working at Hyperoptic is a whole bunch of things - all good, of course! As someone who works out on the field as a Customer Build engineer, it’s fun, and hands-on working as a team When people see that I’m a girl working on the tools, they are still quite shocked. I know it’s not what people are used to seeing. I’m proud to be working to change that, I feel a sense of accomplishment wowing people just by doing what I love. During the hiring process, Hyperoptic didn’t judge me based on classroom grades alone - which at the end of the day, don’t define my ability and capability. I hadn’t come across this before when applying for roles at other companies and it felt like they looked beyond to see my potential. Since being here, I’ve felt really supported in building my career and am exactly where I want to be. I’ve developed my skills and built my character in the process, too.
