Children’s tooth decay is the #1 dental health enemy across America. For healthier children, the sooner we can treat decay, the better. Throughout February 2022, the American Dental Association celebrates children and the opportunity for preventive services and education, with a particular focus this year on sealants. At InterDent, we want to lead the way in decay prevention, caring for children from infancy through adolescence, and providing the protection they need to help prevent long-term health issues. This year, we will strive for a renewed focus on preventive measures to help children avoid cavities and decay; treatment of orthodontic conditions such as improper bite that helps a child early on; and early health warning factors such as asthma or allergies.
In order to meet unusual needs, sometimes you have to come up with innovative solutions. Our outreach team has long wanted a way to care for the dental communities in low population areas of Oregon. Nothing “usual” would work. From that need flowed a long time vision for the Community Outreach team of Capitol Dental Care. We have been working for months on developing a model and building out a “Tiny House” dental clinic. Using the very popular home style trailer, this mobile clinic will serve the Lane County area in Oregon, with a focus on areas where dental service is limited. As Linda Mann, Director of Community Outreach stated: “The Tiny House Dental Clinic has been a dream for over five years now. It provides a two chair, state of the art dental clinic on wheels that is much more cost effective than building brick and mortar offices. This Tiny House Dental Clinic will serve the rural areas of Lane County, Oregon providing access to dental care for some of the most vulnerable Oregonians.
“By focusing on prevention, we can save more people from acquiring dental disease. This has many amazing health implications, not only for each patient’s body, but also for that person’s health equity for the rest of their life. It will also help their loved ones as we energize from whole person care to whole family care to whole humanity care. A person's smile can impact their career, their relationships, and many other aspects of a healthier life.” - Dr Manu Chaudhry MS, DDS, President and Dental Director of Capitol Dental Care Learn more about the noble work being performed by our Expanded Practice Dental Hygienists (EPDH) in Madras, Oregon and throughout the state of Oregon. Our EPDH team is growing and these opportunities directly support under served people and communities in Oregon. To Our Dental Assistants, This week we recognize you for all that you do for our providers, patients, and team members. From comforting a nervous patient, to assisting with major dental surgery, to cleaning and sterilizing every instrument, your responsibilities are vast and vitally important to the patient experience and the overall success of the office. The truth is that we couldn’t do what we do without you and your efforts do not go unnoticed. The theme put forth by the ADAA for this year is “Dental Assistants – Our Heart Goes Into Every Smile” and we couldn’t be more proud of the way that you have continued to serve our patients so selflessly during the pandemic. Your passion and commitment to ensuring that every patient receives high quality, compassionate care is not only admirable, but a cornerstone of our mission and we couldn’t be more grateful. On behalf of the entire leadership team, we thank you for all that you do, each and every day, to make our mission come to life.
To our Dentists, In advance of National Dentist’s Day tomorrow, we recognize and celebrate you for the exceptional care and vital services you provide for our patients and communities we serve every day. We applaud you for your dedication to providing the highest level of care for each and every patient. Your commitment to the overall health and wellbeing of our patients impacts the quality of their lives, both now and for years to come. The genuine care you show every day – relieving pain, soothing fears and preventing or treating disease – is admirable and inspiring, and while it can sometimes be a thankless job, today we want to take a moment to express our appreciation and gratitude for all that you do. Rest assured that we do not take your contribution lightly, but recognize that what you do every day makes a difference in the lives of the patients we serve and brings our Mission to life. Sincerely, Your Entire Leadership Team
Thread 1/3 Today our nation and millions around the world are celebrating the life and legacy of one of our most respected leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a man who brought and continues to represent hope and healing. We have faced unparalleled challenges over the past year, but from this, amazing and selfless healthcare heroes have emerged - we have persevered and the rollout of the vaccine offers hope to our team members, families and loved ones that we will heal and unite in strength. Dr. King’s messages went beyond his dream of a color-blind society – he also dealt with issues of gender stereotypes, poverty, and privilege. This is the time to honor the values Dr. King exemplified and to remember his teachings of equality, respect, integrity, and service. These are values that are all the more important this year, during the current confluence of the COVID-19 pandemic, instances of racial injustice, and political uncertainty.
Thread 2/3 In the coming weeks, our company will continue to support valued charity partnerships through meaningful donations and work. We are proud of our team members who supported two virtual food drives over the holidays, where we provided thousands of meals to families in need. Our mission has always been centered on service to others and we will continue to look for ways to serve our patients and the communities in which they live. In our current times, when health disparities among communities of color are exacerbated by the pandemic, we believe that community service is even more important, and to demonstrate our commitment, we have offered our team members the opportunity to observe this day of service as a floating holiday.
Thread 3/3 As we observe Martin Luther King Day today, let us all reaffirm Dr. King's vision and keep his work alive, as we continue our commitment to diversity and inclusion by building trusting relationships with our patients and colleagues and creating a healthier community for the diverse populations that we serve. Thank you for keeping our commitment to providing the best quality of dental care to all of our patients to improve their overall health. Together, let us commit to service and unity to strengthen our collective community. Sincerely, Rod and Matt Co-CEO
