Why Bad Reviews Are Good Too. Working through my job, day in and day out, I have been both privileged and saddened by online reviews. I know, confusing, right? I feel blessed. Every day our team gets to review and respond to the reviews that our students, graduates and staff write about us online. Most of the time, they are AWESOME. I read about lives being changed, certifications being passed, job offers accepted, accompanied with genuine positivity about MyComputerCareer. I will say it again, I feel blessed. You are probably asking yourself, well Jenny, what about the ‘bad reviews’ or the complaints that you have to read? When I first took this position, negative feedback was the worst part of my job. It made me sad to see that there are people that have negative things to say about a company that I see doing so much good. I even have had moments of anger, when someone would write something, that just wasn’t true or wasn’t how the situation really unraveled at all. Delon scheduled an appointment and needless to say, he and his wife were VERY impressed! Click here to read this story!
Air Force to I.T. Professional : Sean Giberson’s Story “To be honest, I went into the military because I had no clue what else I wanted to do. My father and a few of my uncles had been prior Coast Guard or Navy, but one uncle of mine was Air Force. When I would go visit him on the Air Force Bases he was stationed at (including Colorado Springs, where the Air Force Academy is located), I got a feel for what the Air Force was like more than any other branch, so that seemed like the best fit for me. I re-enlisted for the first time because I still was not sure what else to do. After that, I fell into a groove with the Air Force and decided to continue, as I was getting more and more comfortable with the military and had the opportunity to transfer to a couple of different positions that I really enjoyed. I was with the Air Force for 22 years.” Click here to read the rest of Sean's story!
Companies are hiring cyber security students from schools like this one just as soon as they graduate, and still they can’t keep up with demand. They say it takes a virus like this one, spreading across hundreds of thousands of computers around the globe in just days, to understand why more cyber security workers are needed. Experts called the spread of the ‘WannaCry’ ransomware a pandemic. The malware encrypts your data and demands hundreds of dollars to free it. A way to stop the early version of the malware was only a brief hiccup in the spread of ‘WannaCry’. Click here to read the rest of this story!
Keeping An Eye On The Prize Picture it. The year is 1998. Commencement day at Texas A&M University. A young woman named Anastasia Wilson graduates with honors – she even made the Dean’s list a time or two. I can only imagine her excitement as she walks across the stage, shakes the hands of the university’s president and the Dean of her program, as she receives her newly minted degree – a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. I imagine she was filled with anticipation that the many, many hours, weeks, months and years were finally about to pay off! Click here to read more about Anastasia's experience!
