Poor oral health among seniors can be linked to factors like fear of pain. Vulnerable seniors with mobility and affordability issues tend to put off visits to the dentist if they can. To allay their anxieties, our staff volunteers arranged for transport from the seniors’ homes to the clinic and stayed with them throughout the visit. After treatment, there were smiles all around as the seniors could chew and better enjoy eating their food – an everyday action that we may take for granted.

With Project Belanja!, 50 vulnerable seniors can now enjoy ready-cooked meals daily, at stalls in their neighbourhood. This OCBC-supported initiative is piloted by our charity partner, Food from the Heart. Meals are redeemable via QR code, making it fuss-free and convenient. We are thankful that Mr Abdul Rahman who runs Habibie Seafood, agreed to support this pilot. “I have been blessed with good health and have enough to get by so I want to give back to help others. I also want to set an example for my 22-year-old grandson,” he said. If we have more stall owners like Mr Rahman, project Belanja! will soon be able to offer seniors a larger variety of nutritious meals!

The Brand Promise has been the focal point of OCBC Bank way before the launch of the tagline. The pledge to be Simply Spot On cuts across everything the bank does – its products and processes; channels and capabilities; client service and interaction; and in our suite of digital offerings which aim to give customers the fastest, most convenient and seamless experience digitally.
Other than providing insights on derivatives and forex, OCBC’s Global Treasury and Investment Banking (GTIB) enjoys spending their free time baking and designing fun, colourful cookies with the youths at Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS). The division is particularly passionate about disadvantaged youths in Singapore and has been a huge patron of the organization and its kids for the last 3 years. “We hope to close the gap, to help [the youths] stay socially engaged and gainfully employed,” Mr Lam Kun Kin, Head, GTIB Division (extreme right) shared.
