Michelle Wardley has spent over 13 years with RS and is our Group People Technology Manager. We sat down with her to discuss what life is like working in our business. What does a typical day look like for you? My Days start early with a visit to see my horse, after that it is time to walk the dogs. This is always followed by cup of tea before my work day begins. Each day begins with a 10-minute catch-up with the team, which is a great why to check in with how everyone is doing and feeling. I really enjoy working from home, but I can't help feel a bit envious of the dogs, who get to nap while I am busy working. What is your favourite thing about working at RS? The best thing about working at RS is the amazing team I have the pleasure of working with, as well as the ability to bring my true self to work. The support I have had over the years has been amazing. Being a carer for my husband means I need flexibility to do my role around helping him and RS gives me this along with the support on the hard days. Do you have a memory or highlight that stands out from your 13 years with the business so far? Choosing a favourite moment at RS is challenging because there are so many. However, our team days stand out, especially the country-themed team day. It was incredibly fun, with everyone fully embracing the theme, dressing up, and even line dancing. These days are always amazing, as they ensure there's always time for fun.
Christy Hall has been with RS for 34 years... yes you read that right! (we think she must have joined as a child) She is now our Head of Commercial Process & Applications, and we caught up with her to discuss life in the business. Q1. Hi Christy, what does a typical day look like in your role? Christy: "Not one day is ever the same and they can vary wildly depending on projects, events, deadlines, team needs and whatever is thrown at you! The few constants I have are starting and finishing every day planning and dealing with emails. Every week also ends by focusing on team development (I try my best to end the week with something inspiring like a relevant Ted Talk)" Q2. What has kept you at RS for 34 years? What is your favourite thing about working here? Christy: "The people, always the people!! But also the progression prospects and the abundance of opportunities to learn & grow!" Q3. And do you have a particular highlight or memory from your time with RS? Christy: "I have so many amazing memories it would be hard to choose, but travel opportunities to countries like China & Taiwan and the recent EMEA Supplier Event in Frankfurt which gave me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone & develop new skills are right up there!" #RSLife #OurPeople #Commercial
