Check out your Company Bowl for anonymous work chats.
From generating memes, to designing apps, to playing with Lego, to drinking beer, to meeting the Execs, to building a bridge (which it turns out Newcastle folk are surprisingly bad at đ), Cara Fisher shares her experiences of last month's Grad Week.
Blogs often organise their content using categories or tags. As Colin Eberhardt discovered from measuring behaviours, this doesn't seem to do much to encourage browsing. In this post, he explains how he tried out the new OpenAI Embedding API to create highly targeted article recommendations, resulting in a four-fold (x4) increase in engagement.

At Scott Logic during LGBT+ History Month đ, weâre drawing inspiration from LGBT+ pioneers in our industry. Today, we celebrate Sophie Wilson, a transgender woman who co-designed the BBC Micro and ARM architecture. Wilson started studying Computer Science at Cambridge University in 1975. During that time, she designed the Acorn System 1, an early 8-bit microcomputer for hobbyists, which, from 1979, was produced commercially by Acorn Computers. At Acorn, she and colleague Steve Furber then designed and implemented the prototype of the Acorn Proton which enabled the company to win the contract to design what became the BBC Microcomputerâin the ensuing decade, well over a million BBC Micros were sold and used in thousands of UK schools. Wilson then led the development of the BBC BASIC programming language for the next 15 years. From 1983, Wilson began designing the instruction set for one of the first RISC processors, the Acorn RISC Machine (ARM). This processor type went on to become one of the most successful IP cores, which by 2012 was being used in 95% of smartphones.

At Scott Logic during LGBT+ History Month đ, weâre drawing inspiration from LGBT+ pioneers in our industry. Today, we celebrate Edith "Edie" Windsor (1929â2017), who was a technology manager at IBM and an American LGBT rights activist. In 1968, she attained the title designating the highest level technical position at IBM, Senior Systems Programmer. When Edie's wife died in 2009, she inherited her estate but was prevented from taking advantage of the marital tax deduction available to heterosexual couples. She sued the US federal government and was the lead plaintiff in the 2013 Supreme Court case 'United States v. Windsor', considered a landmark legal victory for the same-sex marriage movement in the USA. The Obama administration and federal agencies extended rights, privileges and benefits to married same-sex couples because of the decision. You can find out more about Edie Windsor here https://ediewindsor.com/ #LGBTHistoryMonth #LGBTQIA #WomenInTech #MarriageEquality
