Since the early days of Scottish Rite, volunteers with sewing talent have gathered to create linens, gowns, blankets, exam table covers and garments for our patients. Affectionately known as “the sewing ladies,” this group of dedicated women has continued to serve Scottish Rite throughout many decades. Giving their time and considerable talent to create custom and unique items made with love has made a difference in countless children’s lives. “Knowing I’m doing something for someone in great need of it is the most important part of this role,” says Carolina, one of our sewing ladies. When COVID-19 prevented volunteers from meeting on campus, the sewing ladies helped sew hundreds of cloth masks for patients and their families to wear at our Dallas and Frisco campuses. Our volunteers share a common goal — supporting Scottish Rite’s mission of giving children back their childhood.
