Streck is red-y! We kicked off American Heart Month by hosting a #wearredday!
Thank you so much to all the Streck employees who donated toys to the toy drive and volunteered at Heartland Hope Mission this holiday season. Our Toy Drive for Heartland Hope Mission ran November 18th through December 2nd. We then dropped off the toys for them to be sorted into bags for families. We had a car full of amazing donations and Heartland Hope Mission was incredibly grateful! Then on December 16th, 23 employees went to volunteer at the Heartland Hope Mission. They were some of the 150 volunteers that day that sorted toys, created bags for families, assisted in pick up orders, and much more! With our toy donations and volunteering our time, we were able to help Heartland Hope Mission provide toys and pantry to 4,000 kids this year! Which is more than double what they have done in previous years. Thank you so much again for your amazing generosity!
The second annual One Community Cultural Festival returned to Stinson Park on September 18th to celebrate diversity and multiple cultures in Omaha. The festival showcased a stream of cultural performances, from Chinese lion and dragon dance, Irish step dance, belly dancing, and flamenco. The park was packed with food trucks and vendors selling traditional goods and promoting their businesses. Streck DE&I Council participated as a vendor to reach out to our community. The Streck booth contained trivia and games that gave people a chance to learn about biology and win prizes! Many visitors stopped by to learn about Streck and careers at Streck. Families with kids took many photos at the Streck mini-scientists cardboard cutout. “I’m very enthusiastic to be one of the Streck booth volunteers, and to chat with people of different backgrounds about Streck. I’m very happy that Streck took part in this exciting event and looking forward to future opportunities like this”, said Jing Li, who joined the Streck DE&I council recently.
We are reaching the end of Men's Health Month. On June 17th employees wore blue to raise awareness for men's health and to encourage everyone to live longer and happier lives. Thank you to all who participated!
Happy Lab Week! Lab Week originated in 1975 and provides an opportunity to increase public awareness and understanding and appreciation for laboratory professionals. Streck celebrates lab week with every department in the company. We all play a key part in creation and distribution of our products from our lab. As individuals it is important for all of us to understand that the work that we do is important. Then as a company we can see our impact on the world. We celebrated Lab Week with a Kick-off pancake breakfast and an all-employee luncheon that allowed us all to come together. There were activities where employees could explore the building to win prizes. We also facilitated peer-to-peer recognition this week to showcase our appreciation for our co-workers that do their part every day. We appreciate all our employees that work here at Streck that make our lab successful!
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the historical, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day is also observed in support of taking action against gender inequality around the world. We all know the world couldn’t run without women (we mean, just listen to Beyoncé). This is the day to appreciate their efforts! Organizations large and small come together to show women just how valuable they are in today’s society. HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY Susan B. Anthony was a political activist and an advocate of women’s rights. After the Civil War, she fought for the 14th Amendment that was meant to grant all naturalized and native-born Americans citizenship in the hope that it would include suffrage rights. Although the 14th Amendment was ratified in 1868, it still didn’t secure their vote. In 1869, the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) was founded by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony to continue the fight for women’s rights.
