🇦🇱 Hack Week 2024 was one for the books! From the iconic Pyramid of Tirana to the beautiful beaches of Dhermi, we enjoyed a week of creativity, teamwork, and innovation 🌍💡 Bringing together SumUp's brilliant minds from across the globe, we pushed boundaries and made unforgettable memories.
This year, we had the honour of hosting Hack Week at the iconic Pyramid of Tirana. This historic Albanian landmark was exclusively closed for our global engineering, product, and design community, providing the perfect location for a week of innovation, creativity, and collaboration. Under the theme "SumUp the Parts," teams united to merge SumUp products and services into pioneering solutions. With over 250 SumUppers from 16 office locations worldwide, Hack Week was about more than just hacking—collaborating across teams and bringing bold ideas to life. On the final day of Hack Week, we welcomed even more of our team members to join the celebration in Tirana before heading off to Dhermi on the Albanian seaside for a long weekend filled with fun, sun and team bonding 🌊🌞 Congratulations to all the winners and participants for their passion, dedication, and innovative spirit and for helping shape the future of SumUp! 🏆✨

Meet Levi Magni, a Software Engineer and member of our TQI employee network in Sāo Paulo, who joined our team through a partnership between SumUp and the NGO Generation in Brazil. Levi's journey began with a 3-month full-stack Java course to empower unemployed youth to break into the tech industry. His story shows the impact of inclusive opportunities and the importance of creating pathways for everyone to succeed 🏳️⚧️
Our Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Felizitas Lichtenberg, represented SumUp at Europe's biggest startup and tech event, VivaTech, in Paris! 🌟 Felizitas joined an impressive panel of industry trailblazers—Charlette N'Guessan, Data Solutions & Ecosystem Lead at Amini, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State at Ministry of Post, Telecommunication, and Information Technology, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mariagrazia Squicciarini, Chief of Executive Office at UNESCO, and Victoria Turk, Features Director at Rest of World—to tackle the pressing issue of digital inequality. Together, they discussed and explored ways to measure and address this challenge and innovative strategies to empower underserved communities to participate fully in the digital revolution.
