This month’s “Vet Voices” spotlight features a Q&A session with Dr. Karen Murphy. As a member of Caring Hands Animal Hospital and Co-Owner of the Bristow, Clarendon, Merrifield, and Rockville locations, Dr. Murphy has been a member of the VPP community since April 2023. When asked how VPP’s mentorship and leadership development programs strengthened her practice, Dr. Murphy said: “VPP’s support programs have played a vital role in strengthening our practice and empowering young doctors throughout the Caring Hands network. As practice owners, it was crucial for us to ensure the successful transition of new associates into ownership roles while also supporting established owners in their pursuit of leadership and practice growth. VPP’s innovative approach not only provided mentoring for new practice owners but also introduced the concept of using bonuses to facilitate ownership transitions. This idea allowed us to offer a unique opportunity for our associates to buy into the practice. 🎉Thank you to our incredible VPP community and Zoetis for helping us raise over $40,000 for the VPP Employee Assistance Fund at “Homecoming” 2023! Throughout the weekend, we had a total of $20,189 gifted from 89 donors and $20,000 in matching funds from our Homecoming Diamond sponsor, Zoetis. The VPP Employee Assistance Fund (EAF) was founded in 2020 to help families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As COVID-related cases faded, our employees faced other hardships, and applications for the Assistance Fund continue to roll in today. To date, $345,656 has been paid out to VPP family members in need 🧡 Thank you so very much to Zoetis and everyone who has donated. Your generosity will not only help our colleagues during their time of need, but also reinforce the strong sense of community that defines VPP.
