Job students at bpost during the summer Nihal, 17, is studying accounting in Koekelberg. At the end of her first period as a job student at the Brussels sorting center at #thegreatestteamofbelgium, she shares her impressions: "Why bpost and not somewhere else? My father works here and my sisters have done several student jobs at bpost. So it was obvious that I would also apply here. For 3 weeks I sorted letters by province and zip code from 6 am to 2 pm. I really liked this experience because from the beginning I felt that I was well supervised. In addition, the atmosphere was nice. It clicked with the other job students and the staff. I hope to go back next summer!" #wearebpost #studentjob
After eight years as a professional soccer player in Belgium and the Netherlands, Jonas started a new career with bpost in 2019. At the same time, he retains his passion for soccer. "I was at the end of my contract at my club when I saw the vacancy for commercial assistant in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. The job and advancement opportunities immediately appealed to me. I then became an office manager. Today, I am happy with my varied job as a financial expert in Dendermonde-Lokeren. An anecdote: when I was already working at bpost, I was asked again to become a professional footballer. But once I had committed myself to the job, I had no intention of going back. I want to keep growing at bpost, while playing soccer in my spare time to relax!" #wearebpost #peopleofbpost

Changing the culture of gender bias Once upon a time the work people did was often defined by their gender. For instance, a pilot or doctor was assumed to be male; a secretary or nurse, female. Now equality is much better established, and in recent years there have been many positive gender developments in the labor market. Nevertheless, women still face more obstacles than men, across many industries and sectors. Good intentions, for sure, but as yet women in the workplace comprise only about 35% of the total. bpostgroup intends to redress this balance, and keep gender diversity awareness high on the list of priorities, with a targeted increase of the representation of women in management to 50% by 2030. Trainee and mentor. An insight into the unique ‘interaction’ during a Group Traineeship at bpost. When we catch Stien Reyntjens and Wim Vermeiren for an interview, it's already late. Stien is still at the bpost offices in Borsbeek, while it's Wim’s last day before he leaves on vacation. But that’s not a problem, for as Wim tells us later: “We work hard here, and sometimes until late. But that’s just because we love what we do!” These are exciting times for both of them: Stien is in the middle of her traineeship, while Wim has been a mentor for the first time. At the Turnhout cluster, collegiality is the glue that binds people and offices together. The two sales assistants at the counter of the Hoogstraten post office take their time to talk to their customers. On this Friday afternoon, there is a pleasant atmosphere here. But things are not always so relaxed: even in the smallest offices in the Turnhout cluster, it can be all hands on deck. And for An Cassal and Hilde Hapers, this office is just one of their 'shifts': they are deployed in several offices in the region.
