Risk operations analysts scrutinize an organization’s routine operations, processes, and systems to identify any conditions or situations that might pose a potential risk from a financial or safety standpoint. This could include studying IT operations, reviewing financial procedures, or even inspecting the physical facilities. They may also monitor customer or client accounts and activity and watch for signs of potential fraud. After discovering areas of vulnerability, they prepare recommendations and solutions to resolve the issue and implement remedies or safeguards that eliminate or minimize risk.
Risk operations analysts typically have a bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, or a business field. They must have strong analytical skills and excellent research abilities. Experience with data analytics programs and familiarity with performing IT system audits would be helpful.
