Server engineers are in charge of maintaining cloud-hosted environments, ensuring that a server is secure, developing backup procedures, maintaining system integrity, and optimizing server performance. Server engineers configure and manage the servers of different operating systems and must be ready to install systems, fix issues, or perform upgrades. They implement enhancements to servers to improve performance and reliability and may be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise system technologies.
Server engineers are fluent in cloud solutions and virtualization software including VMware and need a thorough understanding of patching tools and security vulnerability scanning. They must interpret information in generated reports and come up with strategies to resolve unearthed vulnerabilities. Say troubleshoot systems and diagnose issues. And they must be apprised and stay apprised of new systems and technology on the market. Server engineers need a minimum bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related fields.
