Pros

Meaningful work in a company strongly positioned to weather the current storm in the solar energy market. Work in a U.S. company that manufactures products in the United States as well as overseas.

Cons

Highly volatile solar market creates risk in future employment opportunities with the company. Company's internal processes and systems are still immature and need to develop.

Advice to Management

Need to think beyond the current Cadmium Telluride technology and explore other opportunities and markets that will be strong growth sectors for the future in solar energy.

    Pros

The pay is comparable, the benefits are good. Working conditions are bad most of the time.

    Cons

Repititous on the floor. 12hrs rotating shifts. Poor middle management skills. Promotion off floor is impossible unless you buddy up with supervisors. For most it is a ego trip and dog eat dog employees.

    Advice to Management

Remember who got you in the position you are in the first place. The people who actually make the products are the ones who deserve the most respect because it is their hard work and their bodies who suffered putting in 12hr shifts and time away from family. Get off your ego trips and remember the employees under you built this company with blood, sweat, and tears. Return the commitment and devotion to help employees succeed not just the financial success of the company.

  2. Rewarding result, Too much big-company overhead

    Pros

Work results in real progress in an important industry (clean energy) Good compensation package Get to work with smart people Lots of opportunities to learn new skills and broaden knowledge

    Cons

Getting things done internally is slow and difficult, with too many approval levels and long delays as even minor decisions wind themselves through a complicated process. Company does not assign decision-making authority well, instead requiring many people to be involved in every decision. Day is filled with conference calls with 10-20 people, inefficient Too much time spent on reporting to management

    Advice to Management

Empower managers to make spending decisions, make sure employees are spending time on revenue-generating activities, not fighting their way through burdensome processes or writing weekly reports for several supervisors.
